I cannot get the rifle to...

I too had quite a bit of trouble with this when I first started shooting. Getting someone who knows what they're looking for to watch you set up is probably one of the best things to help find a trouble area. If you can't do that try to record you shooting a couple of rounds to watch later. I...

    Thinking of entering first match.

It looks like I'll be going to BangSteel on Dec. 14th, hopefully Dec. 7th as well for the practice match. 6xcKY, I don't take it as being a douche at all, my biggest thing is to try and do the best I can, I know matches tend to go a lot different than what I'm used to, which is essentially...

    Thinking of entering first match.

Thanks for the support guys, I think that's what I've been needing to hear, just been a little on the fence about entering. I think I've got a decent idea on what I need to work on before hand as well.

    Thinking of entering first match.

Yah, I was thinking about Bang Steel. Is it a pretty decent match for a beginner? Right now my rifle consists of Savage 10 fcp-sr in .308 and vortex viper pst 6-24 ffp w/20 moa egw base leupold mk4 rings. The advice ya'll are giving me is great, I really need to work on different positions and...

    Thinking of entering first match.

Thanks guys, that pretty much answers whether or not to enter, guess I'll give it a go. Any tips to help out as far as training goes? Or just get trigger time as often as I can?

    Best .308 Rifle for $2000

I'd say look at Savage, I've got a 10fcp-sr that's performed pretty well at 1000 and it'll keep you well under budget.

    Thinking of entering first match.

I'm thinking of trying my hand at a tactical match, there's two coming up soon in Wytheville, which is only a few hours away and the closest thing I've seen. My question is, would it be worth while to jump head first into a match, if so, what can I work on before the match as far as training? I...

Yah, that can tend to irritate some people, it still might be worth talking to him though, the worst he could possibly say is no. Maybe offer a little cash for the ability to shoot, that might sway his opinion. Either way I hope it works out for you, seems like there's just so few places to...

    McMillan, AI, or Manners?

Thanks for all the help guys. It seems that Manners is getting quite a few votes. I've been behind a McMillan before and it's definitely a comfortable stock. From my understanding McMillan's lead times are a little on the long side as of right now, War is quoting me about six months for the...

    McMillan, AI, or Manners?

I'm having my first custom rifle built by a local (well relatively local shop) and I'm down to the choice of stock. The rifle will be a .260 rem, I'm hoping to do f-class and maybe some tactical matches with it. I'm somewhat new to the world of custom bolt guns and am looking for advice between...

    New from Virginia

I feel your pain, I can get 200 at the house. I used to shoot at my family's farm but it got rented out, so that went to the way side. It seems that regardless of how well you carry yourself in today's day and age just bringing up shooting tends to make people nervous. I'm hoping this summer...

    New from Virginia

Thanks. I'm glad to know there are guys nearby that enjoy shooting. So I have to ask, where do ya'll normally shoot? Best I have to shoot around here is my buddies farm out to 600 yards and that's few and far between.

    Extraction issues, need help.

Thanks for the help guys. Turns out it was in fact the gas block. It had slid forward about a half an inch. The set screws were completely loose and had no thread locker on them. Not sure why I overlooked the simple things first and jumped to worst case.

    Extraction issues, need help.

Thanks unknown for the response, I just now reread my OP and realize it sounds like ejecting issues, I meant extraction issues as the title of the thread says, I'm having extraction issues. Sorry about the confusion there. I did however go through the check list for ejection issues, but you let...
