20" 5R .308 175gr Berger VLD match/hunting 44gr Varget Federal Match brass CCI primers OAL at 2.850 for mag feed or 2.895 for single loading old pic of the first day I shot this load at 200yds. Groups range from 3/4"-1" (around 1/2 moa) and are consistently in that range to this very day
So many variables here. Learning a new technique that changes your set pattern is always hard. Give it some time and you'll figure out what's going wrong.
You'll get a good workout carrying a 5R around. Why not pick up a $400 lightweight scoped hunting rifle instead of trying to make a heavy gun into a dual purpose rig?
Sorry man, didn't mean to ignore you. And you make very valid points about the cost comparison and availability of 50bmg vs other popular high caliber rounds. I'd definitely sooner go to 50 than 338 but am starting to feel like converting my .308 5r to a better caliber may be a wiser use of the...
Really impressed with the knowledge base and well thought out answers. It's starting to make less and less sense to own one. Having $5k+ tied up in a rifle that's mostly novelty just doesn't work with my budget. So who wants to let me borrow theirs? :D

Owning a .50bmg is on the list, but with all things considered is it worth it? Pros and cons please and your overall worth rating. Please consider cost on ammo and platform and the overall usefulness and fun factor (ie. look at my big gun factor) of ownership. If you say yes, which rifle...
So the overall feeling is this is a good one? Wife has been bugging me to get out to the theaters, just want to make sure it's less of a theatrical abortion than the first Wolverine movie.
Straight outta south central, huh? :D I'm also shooting a 5R, have you adjusted down your trigger yet? That and cheek riser were my favorite cheap/free upgrades initially. Welcome to the site!
I'm surprised he laid down his sidearm. From my cold dead hands comes to mind. Or just not thinking about shooting your neighbor works too. :D What escalated the argument to the point that firearms had to be discarded for safety's sake?
What caliber and app round count? Are you the original owner? If you've put the last 500+ through that barrel then you should pretty quickly realize if its you or the rifle.
