    Night Vision Thin-Film or Un-Film PVS-14??

If low low light use without illuminator is needed the un-filmed l3 is king. I like it as I hunt on moonless nights. Thermal is king no light needed. But shooting with IR laser doesn’t work with thermal. So stalking in close the filmless l3 does a great job. If you need some IR it needs less...

Night Vision Reap IR battery housing issue? Cracked.....

Trijicon took care of me, and that does influence my future purchase decisions even if their product is more $$$. Hope they make good on the warranty even though it was before they took over.

Night Vision Range finder with pvs 14

I have a cotton ball with a small led light with a flex head stuffed into the exit side of the see thru eyepiece then taped over. You cannot see thru it but you can look into it and read out the distance displayed. I use the pvs14 to see the IR laser flashing on what I want to range. I also...

Night Vision Thin filmed vs Filmless white phosphorous.

I don’t have an A3, but yes you will be able to see any illumination much better, I guess it would be like having a few extra clicks on the manual gain knob when needed. 99% of the time it’s probably not dark enough to matter. But I like the 1% because I can still see under zero lighting and...

Night Vision Reap IR battery housing issue? Cracked.....

They are 3.2v rcr123 batts, problem is they are very low capacity. A battery is rated on watts of energy. Using 2 3v batts is 6v = about 9watts. Running a 4.35v 16650 with 2500mah = 9.5watts vs a cr123 3v with around 1500mah = 4.5 watts. Drawback is you need to add the extended cap which...

Night Vision Thin filmed vs Filmless white phosphorous.

20%. You see it in the brightness of a weak laser is now much brighter. Very low powered IR light for close range with vii unit is now good for a couple hundred yards. Big improvement on very dark moonless nights. I think it’s the filmless that allows that low low light performance. But other...

Night Vision Reap IR battery housing issue? Cracked.....

Depends on how much you use them. My mkiii 60mm powered up all night using 2x16650. My patrol runs about 3 hrs per 16650. I would have spent hundreds of $$ on 123a batts for the hrs I use them. I spent under $75 for 8 batts a few yrs back. If I weren’t running rechargeable I probably would turn...

Night Vision Thin filmed vs Filmless white phosphorous.

My Filmless unit performs under extreme dark conditions. ~38snr 72lp vs my older vii pinnacle +27snr 72lp With any moon light or IR light older unit was gtg. But filmless is a big step up, in extreme darkness if you hunt on moonless nights.

Night Vision Reap IR battery housing issue? Cracked.....

That sucks it’s just barely out of warranty. But another way to look at it is, is it worth putting 3500 into it to sell it. I would assume new parts have some type of warranty as a new paid for repair. If unit would sell for $5500 recovering $2k beats losing entire amount spent.

Night Vision Reap IR battery housing issue? Cracked.....

Did they say why repair is not covered under warranty? The unit I sent into them is still under original warranty time frame. So I was glad they covered it.

Night Vision Reap IR battery housing issue? Cracked.....

I inquired about the micro cracks and shading on the display and a couple days later ups showed up to pick it up. So next day I boxed it up and they took it. A couple weeks later and it’s back like new.

Night Vision Reap IR battery housing issue? Cracked.....

Not 100% sure it’s delrin but I am 100% sure it’s not a conductive material. Look inside you should see the brass insert doesn’t go all the way to the bottom. The housings look like cnc’d aluminium. Front part has oring seal between it and main housing. Battery compartment is non conductive...

Night Vision Reap IR battery housing issue? Cracked.....

Only used handheld. The cracks I think are from the brass insert that was slightly too large and over time caused the delrin to start stress cracks. Was bad engineering from the get go. A smaller brass insert with epoxy to bond and strengthen the delrin would have not had this problem. Part...

Night Vision Reap IR battery housing issue? Cracked.....

I just sent a IR Patrol m300w for a cracked battery housing. Now I guess I will wait for the email. If not covered under warranty I will repair it myself. But one thing for sure no $$$ will flow from my pocket to trijicon for any product they make if they don’t stand behind the warranty. Many...

Night Vision IR Patrol housing cracks

Housing looks like delrin. The + contact side is the brass insert pressed into the delrin. It’s just press fit, so battery acts like a sliding hammer and beats the compartment when used as a weapon sight under recoil. Bad design by Ir Hunter. Inserting brass pins into small holes drilled into...
