OP, in that price range, I would look at (in no order): BCM Recce 16 MCMR (with BFH barrel) FNH TAC3 LWRC DI Centurion MidWeight CM4 Cobalt Gen 1 BAMF PRO (they are blowing out the gen 1's for a good discount) Out of those, the FNH TAC3 and the Centurion would be my top choices.

12.5 with suppressor is what I would go with. It's my new favorite length, maneuverability is a big thing for me. If not going suppressed, 14.5 would be my go to unless you wanted a DMR, in which case I would go 16" with shorty can. 12.5 is also the shortest length that I like to run "k" cans...

I am a fan of Jay's podcast and PEWScience, I think it's a great concept to "standardize" suppression ratings and boil it down to a single number. I agree that there is a lot of misinformation out there regarding sound ratings and the dB log scale is confusing for a lot of commercial consumers...
