Gunsmithing Which Product Works Best to Remove Copper Fouling?

Thanks. I've tried Hoppe's #9, but from what I see on the net, Wipe-Out really does the job on copper.

Gunsmithing Which Product Works Best to Remove Copper Fouling?

I'm sure the answer is in here somewhere, but the search engine came up short. So. What's best for getting rid of copper build-up deep in the lands of an old barrel? Thanks in advance for a recommendation.

Gunsmithing Question - 50BMG Chamber Cut

Thanks, jonaddis, you're probably right. Using H-50BMG powder, a case will accept only some 250 grs without moving those long-ass heavy brass solids forward. But it'll take a better man than me to shoot 250+ grs of H in the thing. Yikes.

Gunsmithing Question - 50BMG Chamber Cut

Actually, that is exactly what I did. I built a dummy round with a bullet gripped finger tight, and then chambered the round until the .51 caliber bullet ogive just engaged the lands. So I am quite confident as to the maximum OCL vs. spec 5.450" across the limited variety of .51 caliber bullets...

Gunsmithing Question - 50BMG Chamber Cut

I recently acquired and refurbished a rather dated State Arms Gun Co. 50BMG built by the legendary Klaus Horstkamp. Upon inspection of the chamber, it is apparent that the rifling lands are intentionally cut starting approximately 0.250" beyond the case rim lip. In other words, there is at...

    Suppressors Form 4 wait time

Did I just read in another thread that Skoda sent his approved Form 4 back to the BATF ... because an address on the form was 'messy'? Tell me it ain't so.

    Need a Jack Hammer

If it's a one-time demo project, have considered just going to the equipment rental shop? You can rent something big ass efficient for the weekend and git er done.

    Suppressors Form 4 wait time

Tell a fib to a government that tells outright lies to its people? Yeah, I feel terrible for the lad.

    Suppressors Form 4 wait time

My oldest son has several cans and offered a way to really shorten the wait time. He said that he called BATF about two months into the process to say that he might be moving (which he wasn't) and was concerned about paperwork getting mixed up with a change of address. With this, BATF took his...

Sidearms & Scatterguns Glock 42, some will love me...

As I recall, ATF has a long list of criteria and specifications to allow import of handguns. The tiny Glocks always failed ONE of these onerous criteria, thus banning its import.

Fastest Pistol Shooter in World: Watch

Indeed. If not God, it surely makes one a believer in Intelligent Design. And not to pull the thread off-topic, I wonder how many of our long-time shooters have developed debilitating Tinnitus (due to damage to the cochlear hairs). Sux. BTW, the shooter is quick. The comped, low-powder .38...

    Kaboom at Manatee today!

Worth giving this a bump. Great idea. Great standard practice. Also a damn good thing the shrapnel went 12:00, instead of 3:00 or 9:00. Coulda' wiped out the entire line.

Sidearms & Scatterguns Getting back into handguns; realistic/good accuracy at distance question

If you really want to set it in motion, look for an IPSC or USPSA club in your area, join up and hang with the boys. Great way to learn from traditionally helpful folks, with an occasional dose of adrenalin to boot. Add a timer to your gear bag. No pressure to compete until you feel ready.

Rifle Scopes Varmint scope for cheap...flamers welcome!

Mr. Grubbs, here's a review on SH by TopPredator for something you may like in a variable to 24X. Read the entire thread. Sounds like a lot of features in a 30mm tube for $300-350, and seems to do well under recoil. Also comes in 10-50X60 for a few bucks more.

    Gunsmithing Bedding #1

I've never tried the hardware store stuff, but have bedded several actions using PRO-BED 2000, distributed by Score High Gunsmithing. The stuff has ample working time and cures iron-hard in about 16 hours. The kit runs around $18 and includes all the wax, clay, flow-ash, brushes and sticks...

Rifle Scopes Need Ideas / Info

I'm looking around for something, too. Came across this review by TopSniper on a higher power variable: For $350-400, worth a look at the Stirling Target Master 10-50X60. Edit:: this review is by TopPredator. Sorry. See the entire thread. Apparently the Nikko can withstand serious...

    DTA: The Good Guys

Indeed. Rarely does PRINCIPLE supersede PROFIT in our capitalist system. Don't get me wrong, greed is good, and cudos to DTA if PRINCIPLE was in fact its guiding light. In any event, none of their fine precision weapons will end up in Pakistan; another good thing.

It's really no mystery. All the chem weapons coming out of Syria today are stamped "Property of Saddam Hussein".

    New to the Hide

Hello from a small town Iowa boy, raised when guns where blue steel on fine hardwood and we could still take our shotgun to school during pheasant season. Been trawling the site for a while, and it seems the best on the web is Sniper'sHide, with folks that know the latest guns, gear and...
