Anyone know what kind of "hardwood" is used to make this stock? Is it a solid hard wood such as walnut or beech? Or more like a pressed laminate that is then painted?

Definitely not walnut! Price would be way higher. Most likely beech or birch, or a laminate.

i cant swear as to the type, but its a laminate like the rest of their stocks. looks like a thick slab of plywood. and funny you should mention beech, as thats what stuck in my head as the wood type, but i cant find the type on their site. 605-996-5011 call them up

mine was a nutmeg laminate. I think it is whatever they have that has visible flaws. I have seen them with very bright laminates.

Cool. I was hoping it was a laminate so that I could not be as concerned about it warping. Especially down here in FL.

Its a laminate. I can it in the barrel channel of my stock where the pain is thin.

nutmeg is their name for the colors. the woods are dyed different colors. pepper is a black/grey. nutmeg is a light brown/dark brown. they all have different names for each color combo but its the same wood laminate.

Hey thanks a lot for your input guys. I heard from Boyds about the specific type of wood. They use birch for their laminated stocks. Thanks again!

^ He's got some pretty sick stocks on that site. I just wanted to know the specific type. Birch is awesome. Second only to mahogany IMO.
