1.5 vs. 2.0

Re: 1.5 vs. 2.0

I have a 2.0 because I'm a lefty and 1.5 doesn't come southpaw. While it costs more, and obviously, being a folder it is a shorter package, the biggest advantage is that when it comes to chores such as cleaning or bore sighting, you don't have to remove the cheek-piece and protect the stock, simply fold it out of the way. As Jcvibby says above, the folding mechanism is rock solid and nothing to be concerned about and it is a little heavier than the 1.5 but the AICS is a bit heavy to start with so if you want a lightweight look to something else. That said,it is a club and you won't break it!

Re: 1.5 vs. 2.0

I have time with both the 1.5 and 2.0. I was nervous about the 2.0 and the folding mechanism, but can say with certainty that it is very robust and do not expect any problems with it for years and maybe decades. Other than the advantages already mentioned, the 2.0 is helpful if you do not have a safe that can store really long guns. A 24 or 27 inch barrel on a 1.5 AI rifle is very long.

Re: 1.5 vs. 2.0

2.0 gets my vote.
I have a 1.0, a 1.5 and a few 2.0 chassis.
The 2.0 is slightly heavier but allows the rifle to go into a shorter case for travel.
It can also aid in bolt removal. If your cheek piece is set and you want to remove the bolt you don't have to remove the cheek piece. Just fold the stock out of the way.

Re: 1.5 vs. 2.0

I was in the same situation deciding the 1.5 or 2.0. I like the 2.0 due to easier cleanning. I was concerned about the tightness after folding close the rear section but it turns out to be a non-issue. The 2.0 is solid! However, the new versions of AICS come with an extended front block which I didn't like so I ordered the previous version from Mile High Shooting.
