Berger says that 130 gr OTM Hybrids are easier to tune than VLDs. Do they actually shoot 0.5 moa or better between 0.40-.120 off the lands according to your experience?

Yes

Theough 3 barrels I have found great nodes between 40 and 130 thou off lands.

I've got a box to play with and a SAAMI chamber...so, they're not likely getting any closer than 100 thou from the lands regardless...guess I'll find out.

not that its proper or what's best but i have been using slightly longer than factory ammo and getting really good results at 2.208 oal while the factory I measured was 2.198 oal ,maybe it could be a starting point for you I don't know good luck with it all

I just used my DIY collet case to do some measuring. I've got a SAAMI chamber, .199 freebore. I get that 130 OTM Hybrid into the lands at right around 2.9 inches COL. Because there's a slit cut into the case mouth, I can slide the bullet in an eye ball the shank/boat tail coming flush with the neck shoulder junction. That's about 2.750 inches COL (boat tail is .23 inches per Berger). My rough math tells me that would leave about one caliber of shank in the neck. If I look at a rough seating range of 2.75 to 2.80 based on that, I'm gonna jump .100 to .150 to the lands.

Given that the whole point of the design was running at mag length in gas guns...you gotta figure Berger made it to handle the jump. At least I hope so! I'll get a few loaded and find out for sure here soonish how they handle in my rifle. FWIW, the 130 TMK I loaded are making a similar jump (~.100) and seem fine. I think I'm at least as concerned about loaded for consistency and concentricity as jump, tbh. However, I'm pretty new to this game.

H4350 43.2gn
Jumping ~.050
26" Bartlein bbl
MV ~= 2925; ES~=11; SD ~= 5 (n=8 shots across LabRadar when checking velocity and zeroing)
Group size right at about .5 MOA @ 100yds. That was good enough for me shooting NRL/PRS.

These things just freakin' shoot.

H4350 43.7
Lapua Brass
Annealed
CCI LRP
20” BBL (Gap / Bartlein)
.020 jump
2761fps, SD 2.
Hammer Time!

Also just started loading these over H4831sc. 46.3 and 46.6 were both sub 1/2 moa. Love this bullet.

@nickw thank you, bro. I am looking at VV reloads since there is no way I can get a continuous supply of Hodgdon here.

Just for giggles, I loaded up 10 each of 43.2 @ 2.8 and 2.85 just to see how it goes. I also did some 140 Hybrids at 2.82, though that's a 5 ea of 40.5-41-41.5-42 (which might still be light, but is .5 over book and ought to at least give me an idea on ballpark). That'll be about 40 rounds of solid practice, so there's that to look forward to this weekend.

I'm too much a scrub to really justify buying these, but I seem to see them pop in stock more often than just about anything else...so...

42.6gr of RL-16
Starline Brass
Berger 130 AR Hybrid seated @ 2.800" COAL, .050" jump
Factory 24" 6.5CM RPR barrel
2850 fps, SD 3, ES 10 for 5 shot 1/4 MOA groups

No pressure signs at the 42.6gr charge weight. I did go searching up into the 2900+fps range for another node, but started noticing bolt lift getting stiffer and groups opening up noticeably by 2920 fps. I figured backing down to the brass friendly 2850 fps node would serve me just fine. The node for my barrel is quite wide as it will group 1/4 MOA from 2830-2870 fps. The 130 AR Hybrid is very forgiving in my barrel.

Well, regrettably, either my hand loading sucks or my shooting does. Actually, probably both...

Absolutely impossible to determine any significant difference in performance between the two seating depths. If anything, the 2.80 shot better/tighter, but that might have just been me having my shit slightly more together for rounds 15-25.

None of the 130 or 140 hand loads (ran all 40 today) grouped as well as factory Hornady AG 140 BTHP or S&B 140 FMJ (which my range was selling for $22 a box...I might just go back and buy the rest for short range practice).

I accidentally dumped my LabRadar data for the 130 @ 2.80. It was a bit faster than the 2.85 as one would expect. No pressure on any of the brass today. KRG SOTIC w/ 22" barrel. Here's the 130:
CHG WTAVG MVMVs
42.3282028072828280128112804
28202839281328532819
SD:16.5AVG MV (-9)2816SD (-9)12.2
ES:52ES (-9)38

I only did the extra calcs minus shot 9 because it was 2x SD above the average.

If anyone's curious, that tracks with 42.7 grains in QuickLoad, @61346 psi. Of course, QL is only so-so in terms of reliability here because it's waaaay off on 6.5 CM case volume. I usually tweak until I get the velocity right and then look at the pressure curve if working backwards from real world data.
