I have a 16" 6.5C with Krieger barrel - absolutely love it!!! I have a Steiner M8Xi 1-8 on it and hit steel man silhouettes at 1000 yds with ease using 120g and 140 gr match ammo, using my M5Xi and its like cheating, too easy. I have a 20" 6.5C too and the 16" is quickly becoming a favorite. Im thinking about building something even more compact but it gets into a legal issue of what i can/cant do and how its classified.
Can always pin and weld a muzzle break or flash hider to make it legal length on a 14.5". I've actually been considering this size build, have a 14.5" McGowen barrel, for my HOWA action with barrel nut (Howage style) setup, in my shopping cart on there site. Not sure what velocities and energy numbers I'll get with this setup, it is actually why I was checking here to see if anyone had experiences to share with that short of a barrel. Was considering just building an extra upper for my Aero M5 but the McGowen barrel would actually cost less and I have the platform/chasis, tools, HS guages, etc. to just throw it on the Howa and go to the range. Any experiences with this length barrel, or numbers on ballistics, would be greatly appreciated before I sign on the dotted line. Thanks

I have a 16” TBox 6.5 Creedmoor barrel on order to be built I to an upper for my LMT MWS and SR-25 lowers. Was a tough decision between a 14.5”and a 16”. Decided to avoid the NFA hassle and get a few more FPS out of it. Can’t wait for it to arrive so I can start putting it though it’s paces.
There is always pin and welding a break or FH to meet minimum legal length. I have an AR15 with SF flash hider on a BCM 14.5" that shoots 1" MOA all day long and no NFA headache. Just make sure the muzzle device you use is one you are willing to stick with, if you force it off to try and use a different one you will likely destroy the threads on the barrel and the muzzle device. Too costly in my opinion, I am very satisfied with this set up and think it would be great on a 14.5" 6.5 cm. I am seriously considering it for either my AR10 or my Howa bolt gun with "Howage" nut install setup.

Just seeing this thread. I’ve been running a 16” 6.5 Creed gasser for a little while now and it’s my favorite rifle. I only shot Federal GMM through it with the 130s up until recently. Those were going 2650. I just started reloading for it with 120gr ELD-M using Shooters World Long Rifle powder and added a can (the brake was obnoxious) Results seem a bit slow but I loaded cautiously. I’ll update results here once I get more data but the rifle is awesome to shoot.
