My 16" r700 308 AAC sd barreled action is FS in the classifieds if anyone is looking to get one.

I'd imagine 308.

Has anyone tried a 16-17" 260/6.5cm ? I have an extra tikka CTR 20" that I've been half thinking on chopping to 17" to be a dedicated suppressed rig. But I've been back and forth on whether it would be worth the cost and additional velocity loss vs just leaving it 20"...
 
I saw a 16.5" barreled ctr action in .308 on the EE, not mine but would be a great buy

That's cool. I was thinking of something similar but with a Tikka and using a Sig MCX Kate Moss stock. Would need a buddy to make the hub adapter though. Lower power scope.

Any chance you could up load these again through the attachment function of the forum? Trying to get an idea of what color to get the barrel cerakoted to go with the EH1 highlander.

Yeah sucks, but luckily the hide has an attachment function now.

Also really want to see the rest of sprayed build as i'm thinking i might go coyote brown or Patriot brown for my barreled action as well.

I will try to late tonight. My stock isn't a true highlander as I had manners change the green. Also the cerakote on my rifle was a custom mix to match the green that I changed from the highlander color.

I gotcha, definitely like your green a little better but love both patterns. I didn't have much to go off of except a blurry google image due to photobucket. Interested in the mix as well. I thought i was gonna do black but i feel like this pattern looks better with a dark brown or green.
 
Someone posted the picture I screen captured below. I'm assuming the original picture was lost to photophuket. Can someone repost it along with what it is - specs? A Desert Tech, I'm guessing? Sweet looking rifle!

Looks like a Desert Tech SRS Covert with the Short Action Customs 223 conversion and an Elcan Spectre optic.
 
My 16.5" R700 SPS Tactical in .308 with KRG X Ray chassis. Seekins 20 MOA rail and rings holding a Weaver 3-10x40. Huber trigger and Vortex PST Gen2 (either 3-15 or 5-25) should be on it in the next few months.

The very first animal I ever shot was with my .308 back in February. Shot was only ~40 yards, but I was happy with the result.

Rem 700, 16.5" barrel, 308, XLR element chassis, Jewell trigger mil/mil FFP scope, some other little goodies. Shoots lights out, with full power loads and subs.

Here are pics of my son's rifle. Its a 16" Remington I put together for him, chambered in 260rem. It currently shoots 120BTHP's at 2800fps, and it stacks em tight enough to hammer the deer and elk we hunt:

Two part question:

For those of you with an 18' .308 what bullet and velocities are you getting?

Should I bother chasing a load for consistent hits at 1k? Has anyone found one?

What is the weight of that rifle with the LRHS? Looking at a very similar build.

I ran a 20" factory 5R in competition and hunting as seen above for a while and was getting nearly 2650fps from 178gr BTHP with it. Was plenty for 1K, only tried 1100 once. 900+ with 308 and my lack of reading wind starts to seriously come out because it gets very difficult for me.

20” 22-250 i built myself took this doe this morning off the family ranch. One high spinal shot bullet traveled up into the head, no exit.
