anyone know of any others? and why is the titanium less than carbon steel? i like the caspian. the rail is tapped and not the frame. you just drill the frame and countersink and the screws pull the rail against the frame instead of tapping that part of the frame and pulling against that few threads in the thin area.

I run the Surefire bolt-on. It is rock-solid and doesn't require any mods to your gun. It also doesn't mar the pistol either. Not that I am the kind of worries about such stuff.

For daily carry, I don't like a railed 1911. But I like having the option to use one should the need arise. With this system, I don't end up with railed and non-railed 1911s. What happens is my railed 1911 ends up sitting and not in rotation. So i sold it and just use the bolt-on for classes and nightstand duty.

I'd prefer the Dawson rail. Thats the I would like to get it for mine. It's a proven rail system, slim, uses the Surefire lights.

Custom makers such as NightHawk use it on some pistols.

I belive that the Kimbers that the Marine MEN(SOC) Det1 used it for mounting a light on them also but I couldn't find much for stories or pics.

I've installed a few Caspian rails and one Brownells brand rail. The Brownell one would not fit in the duty holster, but the Caspian would.

The Caspian rails I've installed have been in service for 4-5 years and are still solid.

Dawson's rail for the Surefire is a good setup, but you are limited to using the SF light. Dawson's rail is a cleaner install much less work on the frame.
