We had two here in Oklahoma recently planning to shoot people at school. Luckily their fellow students turned them in. This crap seems to be happening all over the country. I have no idea what this world is coming to. There is a total lack of valuing human life. I believe it is our problem as a society, we created the situation we now face. We need to turn off the tv's and get of the phone and computer and make a point to spend quality time with your family. It is only my belief, but I think if we would make a better effort with our families and those in our lives this country would turn around quickly.
Copy cat killers. This is what happens when the media goes crazy with all the publicity for the shooter. These people want to be remembered, want to leave their mark on the world. Untill the news stops helping them do that, we will continue to see this happen.
I believe the media plays a big role in all of this crap. Copycats and wannabees have existed since the beginning of time. Today, many of these nut jobs seek fame and notoriety through the these incessant media outlets.
I also think the first person shooter games contribute. Yeah, they're fun as hell for most of us, but to a troubled young mind, who's been bullied or abused, its rehearsal.
I'm starting to believe the media connection. Not just how they love to promote death and destruction to sell advertising, but how TV/movies totally desensitize people to violence.
You can't turn on the TV without there being some shooting/killing/whatever type show, that's perfectly OK and kids see that crap all the time. Show a boob or something and you're chased off the air and it's some horrible 'scandal'.
I personally would welcome more boobs and less guns on TV. Maybe it drives more kids to becoming porn addicts, I'm OK with that vs. what we get now.
