To start off with, I've been shooting for a couple years competitively and doing rifle stuff for the past year-ish. I primarily shoot precision gas gun matches and have been doing the 556 thing, and also used 6.5 grendel for a bit as well. I had planned on building an AR10 platform at some point, but I may be able to do so sooner than I thought.

I finally performed well enough and ended up with a Centurion MK11 receiver set, and I also have a cert for 50% off a barrel as well. With that being a big chunk of the build, I am deciding and debating what caliber to go with. I had first thought about 6mm CM but I know the barrel life isn't the greatest from what I understand. I had a good friend who's a professional shooter suggest 6GT. I wasn't familiar with 6GT, so I'm starting to do some research on it as well.

I should also state, I am a reloader so factory ammo isn't a huge concern right now.(If the ammo market evens back out it would be a plus)

Any opinions, recommendations, pros/cons would be mucho appreciated.

6GT is a great round...but to me an AR10 is for slinging the larger rounds downrange. I have a .308 and 6.5 Creed and both are really fun to shoot. Once ammogedden lets up you can get lots of cheap rounds and not care about reloading. Personally, I am having the most fun with the 6.5....

Being that it's an AR rifle vs bolt action, it will be a lot easier to pull a barrel after it's shot out and replace it vs a bolt gun. Unless the bolt gun is pre-fit compatible and what not. I wouldn't be concerned with barrel life on a 6CM AR10. You won't be able to push the bullet as fast anyway, so the barrel should in theory last a little bit longer than it would on a bolt gun.
