Was getting tired of my usual bolt action, and came to the realization that 90 percent of my shooting is done under 400 yards and .223 will get it done for me.

Went for a "mock 12" spr setup, by no means clone correct but it'll work for me.

San-Tan matched set, fully ambi lower, 18" spr profile mega barrel, 15" troy vtac, magpul ubr, troy diamondhead flipup sights, umbrella corp. grip, rainer arms ch, dd bcg... you guys get it. Whole bunch of good stuff inside. Cannot wait to get it to the range!

I put together an SPR about 6 months ago and love it. It’s heavy for an AR but light for a precision gun. Be prepared to burn through ammo at a much faster rate. I’m not sure what you plan to shoot or if you reload. 77 grain Federal FC262 has been great through mine. And it’s pretty reasonably priced.

One thing you’ll find is that you can double tap targets at 400-500 yards. That’s going to bring a big grin to your face. I don’t do it often, but every now and again it’s just fun to hear two shots then two clangs in quick succession.

Have fun. Rifle looks great.

Took it out on Saturday, oddly enough grouped best with hornady black 62gr fmj. Took it out to 300 yards and banging that steel was awesome. Some other dudes next to me were continuously missing with an old beat up ak and missing. I could do great double taps at 100. Eventually I had to break the monotony of swinging the same plate at 300 and started to do sweeping and target transition drills. 1@100 3@200 2@300 then reverse order. It was great! In total, I probably ran 400 rounds through it over 5 hours, and another 300 through my stubby ar. Went from nice and quiet to loud barks of thunder from the unsuppressed 12.5". At that point, went from being the guy that had the cool ar to the asshole with the thunder cannon under a tin roof.
