I can't say they were as good as I would like but for my first time rolling my own I can't complain. I learned a lot from the first batches. The groups below were pretty typical of today, I only shot three 5 shot groups with the two different loads. They were both under one moa. Considering I had variances in my case length and I measured the COAL as opposed to the Ogive, I am happy with the results. Next time out all measurements will be from the ogive based on my rifle's chamber. The middle group was my control group of Fed Gold Match.

No not yet, I just measured my lands yesterday and have adjusted the above mentioned loads accordingly. Once I am done testing the seating depth I will move to charges and see what produces the best results.

thx Diego

Diego, seeing as your just starting out, you might find it easier to stick to book length, find your charge weight FIRST, then tweak your seating depth to fine-tune your chosen load.

What bullets are you using?

168 and 155 palma Sierra matchking HPBT. I hear you but am knee deep in what I started with as I have 3 pounds of powder for each load?

Re: 1st time out with home rolled and Tikka

That's fine, those bullets are jump tolerant, load the 168's to around 2.8" COAL
(you can still use your tools to measure off the ogive)
Play about with your charge weights with the powder you have, and get some happy trigger time in!!!

As a general rule, you fine tune seating depth towards the end of your development, so don't sweat it just yet! You havnt wasted any time/money,
Have a read up on OCW and ladder tests to help you find the accuracy node
For your components, and enjoy your shooting

It's all a learning curve!

Re: 1st time out with home rolled and Tikka

Gfunk, I have read about the ladder test but not OCW. I need a test that is goot at 100 yards. I can get out to 300 yards but not as often. What is the best way to approach this at 100 yards?

thx for the help.
