Rifle Competition Events 2 Day Match on the Cheap

[High Desert duck]

Del Norte Gun Club, New Mexico is hosting a two day match September 17, and 18th.

Located Northeast of Albuquerque New Mexico, the match will take place on the the club's outback range. With more than 50 targets set in natural terrain, the course of fire will incorporate courses of fire from 175-1150 yards, and fields of fire of over 120 degrees. Round count for the match will be 160-170.

The range will also be open with steel for drop verification and zeroing the afternoon of the 16th. We will hold some side matches that day to support the ROs over the weekend.

There won’t be a prize table for this match, but we will be running a high/low payout pot. But it will be a great time time and end with a catered lunch. The match is $45 and the cost for lunch will be $15. We are limited to 40 shooters, and the registration opens on the 2nd of September.

we are coming up on a week before registration closes. it will be 16 stages and a round count of 162 rounds. the following is stage 9 for a sneak preview of anyone who is shooting or in the fence.

Firing Point ALPHA – Red Targets
(MAX 12 Points)
6 Targets – 1 Position – 12 Shots
Time Limit 120 Seconds.
Move on hit or miss. Gear Restriction: None
Starting Position; Standing, Port Arms, mag in, bolt back.
Engage targets with 2 rounds each in the following order 1,2,3,4,5,1 (right to left and back to 1)

We are less than a week away from the 2nd Annual Del Norte 2 day Match! If you are a non-member attending the match check your Practiscore email for the gate access code. Check-in Friday will be on the 1000 yard steel range, and on Saturday at the 1000 yard range complex entrance. The course of fire is 80 rounds day 1, 82 rounds day 2, with16 stages for the weekend.

Unlike our usual monthly matches the course of fire will not be available prior to the Match. The range will also be unavailable for zero, drop verification, or practice after Friday evening. Additionally we will be collecting $20 cash for a High / Low payout pot for this match. HI /low payout pots are a combo of luck and skill. We will divide the shooters in half by score and then randomly draw a name from the top half and one from the bottom half. The scores are added together and the combined score will be how you place for the cash pot. Its a lot of fun and gives everyone a chance to win some cash. This pot will be only for the 2 day competition.

The weekend will begin on Friday at 4:00 PM and is optional. The 1000 yard steel range will be set up for zero, practice, drop verification and a couple of side matches. Additionally we will have a shot marker set up on the 900 yard KD range. This system will show you your shot placement and group size on an iPad along with speed through the target at 900 yards. This can be a valuable tool for truing your DOPE. Bring a little cash to play in the side matches. The money generated by this will be 50% to the winner, and 50% to our ROs working on Sunday for us. Match book with course of fire will be available on Friday evening and Saturday morning.



The Cash payout and 2 day trophy award will take place after the match during our lunch. The season awards and prize table for the Bulldog Firearms Points Race will take place after lunch. If you haven’t already and you would like lunch or bring some one extra let me know and I’ll try and take care of it. Lunch for Non Points race shooters and guests will be $15. Results!

The 2nd annual 2 day match is in the books. 26 shooters enjoyed out fine New Mexico weather on Sunday, and got to play in some switchy tailwinds on day 1. All in all we had a good turn out with the top high/low team taking home $180, and the match winner taking home the trophy.
