20" SPS stock load luck?

I'm curious what loads people with stock 20" Remington SPS's have been getting luck with.

Unfortunately I realized well into my load dev process that I'd kinda messed some things up and need to start back from scratch.

I was hoping to get a jumpstart on the process by trying to duplicate your accuracy nodes.

Im currently using.

77 smk with canalure
23.7 benchmark
win brass
wolf small rifle primer
coal set to feed out of an AR mag.. (mid canalure )cant remember the numbers right now.

Torf, Im running 46.1 grains of Varget under a 155smk out of my SPST, stock barrel.


Thats in a piece of Win brass with a wlrp and COAL of 2.825

I'm having good luck with 44.5 - 45 grains of Varget under both 168 SMKs, Amaxs and Nosler 168s. Even with WLR primers rather than BR2 and 210m primers in Win, Lap and BHA cases.

It's almost too easy!

44.3 RL 15 Hornady Match Brass CCI large primers and 168 gr Amax seated to 2.800" works in my 20 inch SPS stock barrel.

Are you fellas basing your seating measurements on OAL or Ogive?

Mine is on OAL ... which is is NO WHERE near the rifiling.

Im right around 2700, I dont have the exact data infront of me

OAL for me Torf. I'm a simple man. I go up to 2.825" for my SPS and Savage and 2.8" for the AR-10.

I am using 45.3 grs of R-15 behind a 168gr A Max with a Fed 210 and Fed brass with a 2.840" OAL. The load averages 2630fps and shoots well out of my 20 inch SPSV.
The barrel was originally a 26" but I cut it down to 20" and recrowned. I lost about 70 fps when doing so and had to increase the powder by .8gr to get my velocity back. 45.3grs of R15 is about max in this one.

Just under 2 inches...

44.5 grs Varget over CCI 250 primers in Lapua brass @ 2.927 COL .040 off the lands. pushing 168 amax out of a 26in tube produces 2770fps. You should see maybe 2590-2600 fps out of a 20in barrel.

I am shooting 43.9 grains of Varget and a 175 grain SMK, in a Winchester case with a BR2 primer. OAL is 2.815. I worked it up for my AR-10, and it shoots great out of my SPS.

Also has a node at 43grs producing sub half MOA groups at 2650fps.
start at 42.5 and work up.
