Re: 2010 Sniper's Hide Pork'n Swine Portfolio

Just got back from South Africa. Here's a few pics of one of 3 warthogs I shot. I used my Rem 700 KS Custom Safari in 375 H&H shooting Barnes 235gr TSX.
Scope is Leupold 1.75X6 w/target turrets. The distance was only 60 yds.

Shot this one under the left eye, with the exit out the right ear at about 10 yards prone after it walked right to me. Sorry about the crappy pics

You're welcome Catzass, we had a hell of a good time over there.

Re: 2010 Sniper's Hide Pork'n Swine Portfolio

There are supposed to be a few hogs on the Olympic Peninsula,

& WA calls them a pest species (open all year, no bag limit).

, sure would like to find them and try hog huntin sometime.

Re: 2010 Sniper's Hide Pork'n Swine Portfolio

Got this one last Wed. night with the Yugo "Sniper". One shot, back of the head with 122 gr. HP. this was one of about 25 that were about 60 yrds from the house. still haven't got the proper scope set up yet, but the red dot was cheap, fast, and efficient. works great for night-time pig work!
100_2454.jpg

the following week about 1915 hrs., several pigs moving down the tree line, ranged at 170 yrds. little fellow bringing up the rear stayed still just a little too long.
sorry for the bad pics, all I had with me was my cell phone.

Big Bar Hog
We did a count down on this one in the dark at 200yds. 30-06 and 6.5x47L bullets hit about 4in apart. 16x SS is not what you want overcast with 88% moon, but it worked.

For those of you not familiar with bar hogs they are rare. They are boars that have been trapped or caught with dogs, castrated, tails removed and ear notched then released.

Re: 2010 Sniper's Hide Pork'n Swine Portfolio

Another Boar we shot under the moonlight, the grass was too tall to get prone so we climbed into an old stand that was near by...just about the time we get set up the wasps started landing on us...pitch black, trapped in a box with a swarm of pissed off wasps...it was awesome fun!

Re: 2010 Sniper's Hide Pork'n Swine Portfolio

Well I was out defending the milo from the black boar hoards and finally caught this biggun offguard....I had seen him about 3 times already but couldn't get a shot. This time he paused in the road 1 sec too long, which gave me about 3sec to get on him and I managed to get one in him quick, but it only wounded him...he ran about 200 yrds before he tired out enough for me to put another one in him that anchored him. He was about 275lbs. I used a 223 Ackley Improved with 75gr AMAX bullets which normally only need one shot, but he was pretty big and I gut shot him on the first round. The rifle was in our new UPR (unlimited precision rifle) chasis rifle stock that takes AI magazines, is night vision scope ready and folds. Die piggy Die...enjoy!

Re: 2010 Sniper's Hide Pork'n Swine Portfolio

If anyone decides to organize a BYOR pig hunt, I'm sure the Hide could provide a heck of a lot of volunteers. Hint!
