Took this kid to get his first deer, using my 25 Creedmoor.

What are the specs on the model 99? I have a carbine model in 30/30 from 1927. Great rifles.
Ya I love that rifle! I got it when I was 16 from my dad and took a few bear and deer with it, now my oldest son is using it. It’s a 99F in .243, I’ve never seen another one . Lots of model E in .308 but I have yet to find a twin to the .243 99F!

I borrowed a friends 99 in 243. Not sure what model it was, but it still had the internal rotary magazine. The newer models have a removable magazine. I want to put a receiver site on mine at some point.

Well, here is my contribution from my annual Wyoming antelope hunt. Tough year for me this year, first snow and then later in the week everything turned warm and muddy!! But did get this buck, he broke both tips and some off his cutters but so it goes. Also got a couple does so no complaints!!

Cow elk hunt. Unit 27 in NE AZ. 280 yard shot off a tree rest.

Double lung shot.

Ruger American Predator, .308 Win, suppressed. Vortex HST 5-15x44, mil-mil (Midway USA special edition), 180 grain Nosler Accubond (2568 MV, 18" barrel).

She quartered out at 290. No calf.

I'm really impressed by that little gun's accuracy. For a sub $500 rifle, it's pretty darn amazing.

My second cow elk. Time for a bull!

My brother in law took the pics. It was his first time hunting. I helped him find his passion for firearms years ago, now I'm gently nudging him towards hunting. I think this was a step in the right direction.

That's my dad. He's had structural medical issues. He brought along a couple ATV/UTVs. This is the first time I've had the opportunity to do this with him.

Good times, beautiful weather, wonderful company, and all to put some outstanding meat on the table.

Went on a solo hunt a few days ago. Hiked in a few miles and spotted this young buck at 531 yds. 1 shot from my 6.5CM shooting the HSM/Berger 140gr HVLD anchored him. Pics suck and don’t really do him justice, but he was a nice little 4x4.

In the same area the next day, I helped my Dad pack out a big ass bull elk, and my bro in law harvested a beautiful mulie too! 21+ miles hiked in 2 days with half of those miles carrying around 70-80 lbs of meat out. (I was fucking wrecked!!!) Anyways, a very successful hunting season and with lots of good meat for the family!

On opening day of deer season a really nice mule deer was running spooked and for some reason he stopped about 100yds in front of me. As I got my rifle up and found him in my scope he took a couple more steps and stopped again. I squeezed one off and heard the sweat thud of the bullet hitting the target. Well as I peeked up I see a tree branch disintegrating about 10yds in front of me.

Needless to say I took some ribbing. One of the guys in camp found “Branch” to me to take home as my trophy for the year.

Wyfox, that buck is a TOAD! Congrats! Interested in your thoughts on the 129 LRAB. I picked up some 142 LRAB to try in my 6.5gap4S

Thank you.
Absolutely love the LRAB! used them on elk, deer, antelope, bears, yotes, etc and they perform flawless everytime. I now have 2500 of them in my reloading room so I dont run out. The 142 perform great too, just decided to stick with the 129 for velocity. Some guns love them and some hate them, I tried like hell to get them to shoot in my Seekins 6.5 PRC with zero luck.

Just got to Ohio tonight for a bow hunt, lots of good bucks on camera, with luck will have one tomorrow and nice cold week of weather coming,

My kid got a nice Minnesota whitetail on opening day. He tagged a nice 8 point last year for his first buck, and backed it up this year with a little bit bigger one. He used a Ruger American in 243 Win, with 95gr. Winchester Silver tips. The shot was about a 150 yards double lung hit, the deer only went about 30-40 yards before dropping. I've been teasing him it's better to be lucky than good. Haha

Just smashed a cen-tex 9 point!
Rem 700 aac-sd
AICS 1.0
PST gen 1 4x16x50
175 FGGM
DRT

Will get pics up later, hoping to get a doe before dark too!

ETA: Was in the stand for about an hour and this buck came out at about 100 yards. He looked very healthy, was big bodied, definitely a trophy in my book! Took the shot and he took 1 step forward for a DRT. I made decision to give the stand more time, and 30 minutes later I went to recover the buck. I saw a doe step out at the far end of the cut where it Ts off. Deployed my bipod, dropped to the dirt and made a show stopping shot to the boiler room at 175 yards. Definitely have enough meat for the freezer, and an awesome story too boot.

Not a rifle kill but this is my 3rd Archery Mule deer in 4 years. This year just wasn't good for horn growth in the areas my friends and I hunt. Decided to take this old buck this year after having watched him for the past 3 years hoping he'd get bigger. Unfortunately, that never happened and he was already on the decline.
