Hello all,

I just tested some Hornady 208 BTHP's in my Savage 10FCP after being inspired by MontanaMarine and ShortBus. I am impressed with my results:

45.5gr RL 17
Win Brass
CCI LRP
COAL 2.88

Temp 75
Humidity 63
Bar 30.01
Elev 750'

Velocity average: 2565(no pressure signs AT ALL; tested in hot and cool Texas weather) and shooting half minute groups. I haven't had a chance to go out to my 400 range and try these, but I am impressed with my current results.

That's awesome :D
I haven't loaded 208s, but my 10FCP tosses 190s in the 2650fps range, so your velocities sound quite good. Still, I would say that's a high node.
Pushing 168s, I'm getting 2840-ish fps without excessive pressure signs. I'm very impressed with Savage factory barrels:cool:

I've got a criterion barrel on my savage action and have been experimenting with RL17 and 190 gr SMKs and can't remember how many grains of powder but the case is full and I've been getting getting 2650fps which is the same speed of my 175 gr SMK load with 44.3 gr of Varget. Looks promising but I still need to play with it some although there isn't much I can change. The bullet is seated as deep as I can go without the powder pushing it back up and the round barely fits in the mag.
