22-250 Bullet Weight

Tis may not be a popular round here, but I'll throw it out anyway.
What bullet weight range am I going to be limited to with a Rem700 22-250 with a 1:14 twist rate?

Rlandry, The 22-250 is a very popular varmint cartridge, but yes, probably not the most popular here. That aside, I have an older Remington 700, 1-14 twist similar to yours. So far, I've had the best results with a 55 grain Hornady V-Max. Others swear by the 40-50 grain bullets... I'd love to be able to get the 53 grain V-Max to shoot well out of mine, but, so far, not much luck there..... So, my advice, your best bet will probably be the 40-55 grain bullets!!!! I was able to shoot 60gr partition out of mine and it was a deer killer if that is your intention. If varmints are on menu I ran 50/55 Ballistic Tip.

mine likes the 50 gr vmax @4000fps, and 40 gr runs real good too at 4200 ish. 52gr bthp hornady ran good. i tried 60gr partitions and those opend up to about 4in groups at 100. didnt try after that.

50gr vmax is a good bet. I have a 1:12 twist and the 50vmax shoots great and the 55 grain vmax/nosler varmageddon shoot good also. Ive never tried the 60 grainers or the 52-53 weights

53 Vmax will get you the best BC and I run my 22" 700 suppressed at 3512 Fps

I've got a 22-250 from Tikka that loves the Sierra 55 gr Blitzking driven by Varget at 3600 fps. The Tikka has a 1 in 14 twist also.

My circa 1980 Rem 700 BDL Varmint Special 22-250 with 1/14" the 52 grainers work the best, 40 to 50 work good but 55s are maybe and 62 BTHP keyhole...

are you using box ammo or reloading? i had good luck with the superformance and regular hornady box with 50 gr vmax. reloading using the same bullet i use varget.

For the moment, I am looking for a good factory option. I will start working up a load, of my own, as soon as I find a factory load. Just so I have options.

I've got some 52 and 53grs laying around but haven't tried them yet hope to get a load for them soon right now I'm just using 55gr superformance factory loads and my gun does alright accuracy wise!
