Just got a 22/250 for the first time. I would like to shoot 55 ballistic tips. I have reloading manuals but I rarely get to shoot enough to work up a load. I know there are probably loads that are proven if you have one I would appreciate it, the rifle is a Rem 700 SPS Varmint with 26" barrel.

Re: 22/250 reloading data

38 grains of H380 with a Standard primer or 35 grains of Varget are both awesome loads in all the 22-250's I have shot them in. My father in law uses a winchester ball powder ( 780 or 748??) as a result he uses the magnum primers. I have never seen the need for a magnum as the Crony shows I am getting all the velocity the book says and the bore looks fine. I personally favor the 50's as you get more speed and anything I am shooting with a 22-250 I can kill with the 50's or 40's for that matter. My gun shoots the 50's most accurate with Bt and V-max shooting about the same. they both will chisel bullet holes at 100 yards. My guns shoots my hand-loads right at 1/4 inch at 100 and they are set to the OAL that the book recommends since Remington made the throat so long long it is pointless to try and set the lands. Doesn't matter at the book OAL it pretty much shoots in one ragged hole. Jeff
