So I'm going to be doing a 22" hunting barrel for my DT SRS. I have all the loading supplies for the 300wm and most for the 7 SAUM. What I'm trying to decide is if the 7 SAUM will still have a large velocity advantage with the 175 class bullet over a 300wm with a 210-215 class bullet in a 22" barrel. I'm really looking at the 175gr eld-x for the 7mm and 212gr eld-x for the 300wm. With the b.c. being similar with those weights if the 7 SAUM doesn't have a significant velocity advantage I'm definitely going with the 300wm. Anyone have any experience with these cartridges in 22" barrels shooting a similar weight bullets?

Don't have a 7 SAUM or 22" barrel 300 Win Mag; however, doing some research on the internet, found a 22" barrel 300 Win Mag launches a 190 SMK at 2786 FPS and a 22" barrel 7 SAUM launches a 162 A MAX at 2850 FPS. Barrel twist rate and environmentals unknown.

My brother runs a 20" barrel suppressed 300 wm for hunting. With RE17 he's getting 2890fps with 190ge ablr bullets. no info on 7 saum.

I'm not really concerned with the energy because both cartridges are more than enough for my intended purposes. Looking at mostly external ballistic performance.

I have multiple ballistic calculators. I'm looking for people's experience in achievable velocities with a 22" barrel and the listed cartridge/bullet combinations. Not trying sound like an A-hole but I'm looking for information based off of people's actual experience with the question asked above.

your best bet is going to be to go through the Reloading Depot. not likely to get a whole bunch of people to come on with those exact bullets and barrel lengths but very likely to find something similar in the Depot

or even a 24-26" barrel and subtract 25fps per inch
