I've just finished building a .223, i'll lay the specs out cause I'm sure someone's going to want to know, 18" .223 bull barrel 1-9 twist, with rifle length gas piston system. Put it in a noveske upper receiver, both upper and lower are Gen 3. LMT bolt carrier. I've been doing some testing from benchrest and wondered is their a change in accuracy if the gas system is switched off.

I doubt so. Very little velocity is loss due to the gas system so I wouldn't worry about that. The main thing that could change is shooter accuracy as the recoil impulse will be different.

I've turned off gas system on builds, found most accurate load and then opened gas system until rifle cycled 100% reliable. No appreciable accuracy or velocity difference.
