I've inherited my father's Specter, and would like to pick up a new host for it. One that I'm looking at is the Sig p226 .22lr. Does anyone have any experience with this?
Any other thoughts will also be entertained. Thanks in advance.

I first started with a mosquito also....then went the 22/45 route. ..ended up with a 10-22 for a rifle host and a Browning Buck Mark as a pistol host...couldn't be happier.

Thanks guys, I do have a threaded MKIII. It's great on there, just thinking about something different. It also has a Fastfire II, very fun. I think I'm going to try one of the new Walther PPK/S'. I know, I know, but it looks fun and has received favorable reviews so far. Worst case, I sell it and pick up a Buckmark.

buckmark, ruger MK II/III are what id suggest. the p226 i dont have any experience with. i do with the mosquito and its terrible. its the only gun i have ever sold.

The Mosquito is a POS compared to the P226/228/229 uppers in 22LR.

I have both a Buckmark and a P229 with 22LR slide. Both are very accurate and reliable. I prefer the SIG due to size and ergonomics (including magazine) matching a "real" defensive pistol. The Buckmark with its long sight radius and very crisp SA trigger is a hit with new shooters though.

Unfortunately, I have not mounted a can on either one (yet) but I would prefer the Buckmark due to the rigid barrel. The SIG barrel does not move in the frame but it is supported/centered in the front by the slide and that MAY cause issues with the weight of the can. This is pure speculation and I hope someone who has actual experience with a suppressed SIG 226/228/229 in 22LR can chime in.
