243 in a 22" barrel?

or even a 20". Anyone have a similar set up with data for the 115s?

I'm interested in a sub 500yd rifle but the 26" tube is more than I want to deal with.

Well you don't need to shoot 115's to get to 500yrds with a .243. The 87gr Vmax's work very well. Plus you will need a 1:7 or 1:8 twist barrel. I would say a 18" or 20" would serve you well to 500yrds.

Here are some 5 shot groups at 100yrds. I shot with my 16 1/2" barrel Tikka T3 in .243 using 87gr Vmax's. I would not be afraid to punch paper...or even a yote...at 500yrds with it.

If you only want to shoot to 500, use 95gr Bergers with a 1-9" twist. 22" would work.

What he said. You don't need to shoot the 115s to reach 500. Where the 115s really shine is out past your 500yd mark. Take a look at Swift's 90gr scirocco for a hunting bullet.

Ive had the same results as BgBmBoo out of a 22" 10 twist shilen with the 87 VMax...groups in the .2's-.3's at a 100 yards consistently. Hell on Pdogs out to 400+.

95 Sierras will work in most 1/10 bbls.

I believe that was with RL-15....do not have my load book handy...it's out in the garage and it is 115 deg outside...probably 130+ in the garage.
