Looking for some 243 match/long range loads. I have a 28 inch 1 in 8 twist barrel and I have 115 Dtacs, 107 sierras, 105 amaxs and rl-17 on hand. Looking for some accurate loads. Thanks

Re: .243 long range/match loads

115 dtac over 43 grains h4350

.243 win, sorry about that

Re: .243 long range/match loads

115 DTACs work pretty well with RL17

Re: .243 long range/match loads

There is a lot of info on the web...of guys using H1000 with those bullet selections. This is where H1000 excel's...over the faster powders. It will also extend the life of your barrel..if that matters to you!

Re: .243 long range/match loads

You are definitely in H1000 or IMR7828 territory. H1000 has given me improved results with 100gr bullets and I'm using a factory Rem 700. I can only imagine the results you'll see with the super heavy bullets.

Re: .243 long range/match loads

43 gr is way hot in my gun. With h4350. I've been thinking of the rl-17 but I'd like to hear other ppl's results.

Re: .243 long range/match loads

Shot from a Walther Lothar, pre-fit for a Savage action, SS, 28" long, 1 in 8 twist barrel.
Winchester brass, fully prepped, but not culled for weight.
Lapua 105gr. Scenar, Sierra 107gr. MK, or Hornady 105gr A-Max.
Federal Match primer.
Using a ( used to be Stoney Point tool, now Hornady Lock and Load tool?) bullet seating tool, .015 off a " hard jam".
44.5gr H1000.
Best results at 600 yards,105gr.Lapua Scenars.

Re: .243 long range/match loads

I use H-1000 in my rifle with 1-7.5" twist. Lapua brass, CCI BR2, 115 dtac hbn coated. Edged out H-4350 in the accuracy department with greater case fill and zero pressure signs even with significant compression (while trying to find max load). My load is 48.0 gr H-1000 at 2.315 to ogive. i was able to fit about 48.5 gr with a drop tube. I would obviously lower charge and work up but I had zero pressure signs and it was about 101 deg outside. Awesome stuff as far as I'm concerned

Re: .243 long range/match loads

-243 win
-115 DTAC BN coated
-Lapua brass
-H5350 41.5gr
-BR2 primer
-OAL = 2.865
-3050 fps

Note: running a chamber custom cut for the DTACs and lapua brass, your OAL will be different. If you are running non-coated DTACs your velocity will be higher, work up obviously.

Re: .243 long range/match loads

I have two loads
105gr Hybrids (molly coated), Win brass, Wolf LRM primers, 45.5gr N160 powder.

105gr Nosler CC, same as above.

Re: .243 long range/match loads

For Factory Rem700 SPS Varmint.....95gr SMK, 40.5gr H4350, 2.800 COAL....

Re: .243 long range/match loads

anyone run the H1000 or retumbo in the 243 or 243 AI in a 24" barrel?

I have ran RL25, never Retumbo or H1000

Re: .243 long range/match loads

Friend of mine Kevin MacDonald (maker of the MAK tubegun) runs H1000 in his .243. You don't get the velocities you do with other powders such as 4831SC, 4350, etc. and he fills the case full but it shoots very well for him. He also runs it in his 260. I shoot the powder in my 280, 338LM and 7mmWSM just never have ran it personally in my 243/260's.

Re: .243 long range/match loads

I run H1000 in a .243. 45.5 grains in a Lapua case with 105 amax. Fills the case about as full as I can get it with my current seating depth. Velocity is 3100 FPS out of a 27 inch Brux. Pretty damn good load for 1200 rounds and counting.

Re: .243 long range/match loads

My .243 match chamber works well with 48.0gr H1000, FGMM 210m primer, Win brass, 115gr DTACS. 3040ish fps/26" barrel. 2.925" coal if I remember correctly-each jug of h1000 seems to vary so start low of course.
