What can I expect from this round. I will probably never shoot it past 1000 yards

Quarter bores never caught on much for LR shooting and because of that it lacks optimum bullet choices. The 115gr Berger hunting VLD is pretty much the only game in town for a bullet with a halfway decent BC of .466. Everything else is .430 and less.

Why not use something else?

I just picked up a sendero in 25-06 from a trade I was thinking of re barreling it but I think it fits the bill for what I want a flat shooting round capible of taking out deer and predators at a medium distance.

I love my 25-06, but as mentioned, it has no good bullet selection. If somebody (cough, cough) would make a 120-130 Amax or Match King, I would build me another .257 in a second.

270 is the same way. But, someone is going to go after that market eventually.

Just use it for hunting. It's a deer killing machine! Been using one for 15 years and it will drop them.

Actually, weight for weight, some .270 bullets have a better BC than 7mm.

Yeah, the 270 is starting to get explored. But the 25s are where the 27s were 2-3 years ago.

Thas what I was afraid of I'm looking into my first custom build so I am probably going to stick with a 7mm mag of some sort. I don't hunt it is for F-class basically

Unless you are completely recoil insensitive, I'd look downwards from the maggie calibers for F class. Go online and search the winners lists for the class and build accordingly. JMHO

Yeah you don't want to be eating 7mag recoil constantly in prone. There's a reason you won't see anything like that at an f class match.
