No traffic in the US

why not do a cannonball run?

One of the cannonball run issues is traffic... how do you time your start to avoid traffic jams?
How do you avoid “Karen’s” from calling 9-1-1 as you blast past them at 190 MPH

26:38 was run NY to Redondo beach.

Mother of god that is fast.. it probably took a good share of luck, but you’d have to plan that really well. If you can figure out the fuel problem, a bike is the way to go. It avoids any unforeseen traffic or construction delays, plus you a way greater chance of avoiding cops. I did Daytona to Bismarck in 23 hours once, but everything went right. That’s a 30 hr ride, and NY to LA is probably 40, so it’s possible for anyone who understands what they’re doing. I drove truck otr for a while too, and can say that solid planning on traffic and fuel stops make a world of difference.

Let's go!

whats even more fascinating is the fuel systems on these cannonball cars. fuel cells with 2-4 ports meaning you can fill these huge fuel cells using more than one gas pump. There is so much going on with these runs, its incredible the amount of perfect timing and communication that goes into a feat like this.

Check out the Hoka Hey. I followed a dude that used to compete in that every year, and the shit they do and the training they endure to do that is insane.. Huge fuel cells, big water tanks, they use catheters, stay up for 70 hours running 125 average, sleep for just a couple hours over the course of two weeks, mechanics following them in airplanes.. Absolutely nuts

Endurance racing (in this case coast to coast runs) is super interesting to me. people always thinking of new ways to beat already (almost) impossible times.

So interesting. Terry, that guy I wrote about, had all sorts of details planned, and I specifically remember him explaining how we would time it to be at the top of Beartooth Pass right at the time it opened so that he knew for sure there would be no oncoming traffic for thirty minutes, so that way he could use all lanes, making corners tighter and doing that stretch faster than anyone else. Dude crashed three times and finished with a broken leg and cracked ribs. Totally crazy.. He also has “Ride to Die” tattooed across his throat.

Sound a little like fun to me. In my younger days I made a drive from Camp Pendleton up to central Oregon (about 900 miles) in around 10.5 hours. I went through most of California with my cruise control set at 120 (highest it would set). A buddy of mine was getting married in our home town so I went to the wedding. Didn't have any leave to burn so I drove all night Friday, wedding on Saturday and drove back to base on Sunday. Those were the days when I could sit in a car for 2 days without being crippled.

wow, that's quick. 700 miles in ~8.5hrs is the quickest I've gone. I want to do a Cannonball but I'm not sure my 30 year old Toyota wants to. :ROFLMAO:

I know what you mean. The car I did that run in was a Taurus SHO. These days I drive a 20 year-old Tahoe that's lucky to get up to 75. I've had a few close calls in my life and gotten lucky more than once and don't drive all that fast anymore.

This is the second or third mercedes that has beaten the record...

Next time you hear a bmw vs mercedes commercial or article and the bmw wins...
