Would it be wise to put in a Wyatt box for this combo to gain a little lattitude for the longer bullets or is it needed?
I am converting a 308 with Williams floor metal and dont want to go DBM on this build.

Are you having a brand new barrel chambered for that .260. If so, why not have it chambered to match a bullet case combo that fits in a standard box mag. Some people use that Wyatt extended box mag on factory chambers with a lot of freebore so they can seat closer to the lands.

Yep, new barrel and I have Wyatt's on other guns with custom tubes.
Longer heavy bullets can mean longer COAL without burying it into the case, taking up powder space.
I have no experience with the 260 specifically, hence the question to those that do.

In my .260 you can load 140 Amaxs to touch the lands, and still fit in an AI mag. I don't load this way, but it is an option for me. That's why I ask what bullet. Discuse this with the person chambering your barrel. If they don't have the correct reamer, move to someone who does. It's your rifle, and you should get what you want. No need to compromise.

I use a Stiller Predator SA and have the Wyatt Box in it. With the .260, it is a good way to go. I can run up to 140gr VLDs and reach the lands at magazine length. Of course, much of that has to do with how you have it throated. If I absolutely didn't want to use a Wyatt box, then I'd go with the 6.5 CM and have the rifle throated accordingly.

I've seen your rifle and noticed you have the longer box. Adding the box is not a big deal, I was just curious if it was needed for the heavies in this round. I have all my components on hand and have taken measurements with the 120s to the 140s. If I have the chamber throated so the bullet kisses the lands at the max COAL (bullet bearing surface in the neck), with the 140VLD, the Wyatt's box would be needed, ever so slightly. Having the extra box latitude is not a bad thing.
