How is the current Lapua doing?

If forming ww 708, does one need to resize the entire neck, or just close enough to the shoulder to chamber?

Re: 260 Brass - Lapua vs. Noz vs. win 708....

I use a Forster Plano FL die to resize Win 7-08 with there expander and after firing nothing but the Redding Type S FL die with a .289-.290 bushing no expander unless the lip is dented, so I do resize the entire neck.

Yeah, til it fits your chamber, no big deal. I FL resize and chamber the brass to make sure it fits.

The current Lapua 260 brass is great! All depends on how your reamer was setup. Need .297-.298 neck for proper clearance.

Re: 260 Brass - Lapua vs. Noz vs. win 708....

Thanks, reason I asked, my die is set for partial sizing, and I can fit 7/08 brass run thru, w/o re-adjusting the die. Curious if it would 'form properly' to my chamber.

Had a bag of WW brass and Lapua is on the way. Noz worked great in the past, but figured I'd give Lapua a trial.

I run the 7-08 through my neck sizer and go. I have 7 loads on one batch, only neck sizing. Still haven't had to use the body die.

Your chamber neck needs to be .298" in order for the Lapua to work. Necking the 7-08 brass down is a one pass thing, if the bolt closes, it'll form 100% to your chamber. I've ran Rem & WW in 260/7/08, 243 Lapua necked up and turned and Nosler in the 260 & 7-08 offerings.

Nosler trumped them all, hands down, with ease.

on my .260AI, I have just been resizing the neck of Winchester 7mm-08 brass. The brass is thin enough and strong enough that I have been able to get some crazy speeds without blowing primers. Those Berger VLD's with their "reduced bearing surfaces" fly very fast with less powder behind them than the 140/142 SMK's.

So will it work to neck Lapua 260 brass up to 7-08 on the one you are currently building for me?

I'll have to check my 7-08 reamer print to see what the neck measures. If it's .318"ish it just might work. For some reason .315" is in my mind. I'll see if I can find the print and report back.

I've had great results with Nosler 260 brass in the past, and I'm about to buy a large quantity of more 260 brass. Do you recommend Nosler over Lapua for 260 brass? </div></div>

Havent shot the 260 Lapua brass as my chamber neck is .295" but, I suspect it's good stuff. The 243 lapua brass I made up didnt shoot as good as the Nosler did at 1k but, at 600 it hammered. The deciding factor for you will be chamber neck deminsions unless your neck turning. The 260 Lapua brass I have seen measured .295"/.2955" loaded, too tight for my .295" nk chamber.

Re: 260 Brass - Lapua vs. Noz vs. win 708....

Thanks all, since then, I loaded some w/o adj. die, which came about 1/10" above shoulder juncture, just an eyeball, it chambered though some tight, not too bad.

Shot a .15 CtC for 3 shots using 123 MK HPs over 44/H4350 and FGMM primers, using new brass, and a 6x36 Leupold w/wide duplex, at 100 yds, w/new sporter rifle.

My gun is not a tight neck, assuming it will handle Lapua fine, but this Win 7/08 is showing NICE potential......

Thanks again all.

Re: 260 Brass - Lapua vs. Noz vs. win 708....

Update, as I hit send, the brown truck showed up, yep, my Lapua is here, ran an empty into my gun, chambered slick as ...glass, though loaded OD neck may be larger so IF by chance I run into any issues I will go back to Win 708 and Noz.

Used Noz in past w/GREAT results .2-.4 out the box, whereas RP gave .5-.6 groups when new.

The brass on first glance looks great, as it should for it's premium price.

Anyone wore out any Lapua or Nosler 260 brass? Wondered how many firings they last. And to the poster who asked, got them at Bruno.

Thanks again.
