I am loading the 143g ELD-X over H4831sc. The local guys say I should be getting over 2750 fps out of that bullet, but I am not sure I am going to get there.

The rifle is a Tikka T3 with a 22" barrel
Chrono is a Magnetospeed sporter.

Here is what I am getting so far.
1st node is pretty low at 42.7 grains. 5 rounds gave me 2480,2487,2498,2506,2488 sd =10 ES=26
2nd node 45.2g-, 45.4 and 45.6 grains gave me 2595,2592,2597, I have not done a 5 shot string over the chrono.

At this point several suggested that I should be able to get more speed out of it and to go up in charge weight. I did find that on hodgdons site, they listed 48.0c as the max load

So I loaded up some more at
46.2 2699
46.4 2684
46.6 2650
46.8 2706
47.0 2696
47.2 2667
47.4 2712
47.6 2706 this load had extractor marks.
47.8 2741
48.0 2763 this load also had extractor marks.

What are the odds I am going to get more speed out of a different powder? About every one says to get H4350, but that's about as easy to find as unicorns. Any other suggestions, or should I just work with what I have so far?

I am thinking of loading a few up at 47.5 to see what I get. But that is running right at max for that rifle it looks like.

If you look hard enough h4350 is out there. BTW, you're probably getting ejector marks, not extractor.

H4831SC is going to be slower than H4350, and some other powders commonly used in the 6.5 bores. 2800 was the best I could do with a 21.5" barrel and 130s and H4831SC.

Just because I have been referring to it as the wrong part for 3 days now does not mean I know what I am talking about. Hate it when that happens, ya you are right, ejector marks. Been so focused on finding a good flat spot and low SD and ES that I did not even notice..

I've burned about thirteen pounds of IMR 4451 in my ctr. I get about that speed with the ELD-m with pressure signs. I can get scenars to 2730 without. Accuracy node for the nosler rdf is right at 2700 with no

So far, I've been able to get 4451 more reliably and cheaper than 4350, so I've not even bothered with it.

130gn AR hybrid OTM Berger in a 20" Tikka CTR, 42.5 grains ADI 2209 powder gets me a mv of 2605fps, measured with a magnetospeed. SD of 11

VV n140, VV n540, rl22, VVn150, IMR4451

2680 from 39 grains of N540
2650 from 39 grains of N150
2620 from 45 grains of RL22

just started loading IMR4451 so i have no load data yet

this is from a tikka ctr 20" with a 7" Ultra 7

I have an OCW loaded with the 135gr Berger Classic Hunter and Reloder 26, just haven't had a chance to get out and test.

I have a good friend who is running his 6.5x47 with Varget and has had excellent results. I'd try it in the .260 too except I've got my beloved H4350 to burn up first.

The 6.5x47 likes varget because of its smaller case capacity.
Yes you won't have near the speed with varget as you will with 4350 or rl16 or even rl26 in a 260. I considered using it but I've been lucky enough to stock pile a bit of 4350 the past 2 months. I would try 4451 before varget, I think it would perform better in a 260.

I would disagree with the last post because i have had success with varget in my .260. With a 23in barrel no pressure signs easily hit 2850 fps with a 140 class bullet. tested the 123 lapuas and was running 3000 fps with single digit sds. also using lapua brass and 210m primers

you cant go wrong with h4350. I have a 1:8 26" Bartlein. I loaded up a lot of .260Rem 139 scenars in Georgia during the summer when it was around 95 degrees outside, and shot at 2896 with a SD of 3.6. I used the same lot in Kentucky this past January wen it was 10 degrees outside, and still was running 2880 or 2890 with an SD of 4. H4350 has proven to me to be very stable throughout the temperature changes. plus it helps that there is local shop that has about 160 lbs of it in stock in 8 lb jugs haha

Savage Model 12 260 Rem. HS Precision 26 inch barrel 1:8,
Lapua brass 2TF, Lapua 139 scenar, GM210M, H4350 42.1 gr.

Chrono 10 shot group:
Jump -.010, Mean velocity 2843 fps, ES 37, SD 11
Jump-.020, Mean velocity 2857 fps, ES 25, SD 7 (Currently using)

Could not find grouping at lands or jumping with 140/142 SMK or 140 Berger Hybrid
