Although I may try the Rem 260 brass first and see how it goes I am curious about the other options. For those of you running Lapua or Win 243 brass in your 260's, what procedure are you utilizing? Just ramming new brass into a FL die and blasting away with it? I read the Zak Smith article (100 times) and he was neck turning, voodoo, etc.

Same question regarding the Win7-08 brass applies to the above?

Last but not least, what size range of bushings should I get for Redding S type FL die? I'm assuming it will vary depending on the brass choice of the day.

Re: 260 shooters. ?'s

I use WW 708 brass as follows:

1. FL .260 size die
2. Sinclair expander mandrel
3. Redding "S" bushing neck die (to just a thou or two smaller than the expanded size from previous step)
4. Back over the expander mandrel

I've found that the repeat of the last couple steps really smooths things out. I don't even bother turning anymore. Still shoots 1/2MOA (even with me pulling the trigger).

at $1 a piece, it should prime and charge itself.

Re: 260 shooters. ?'s

I shoot both. Lapua will last longer, but more steps in getting it where it needs to be. Win 7-08, full length resize and done, just as accurate but primer pockets will not last as long.

TC turned me on to this - I run same with no issues.

same here

Re: 260 shooters. ?'s

I have done the necking up of lapua .243 brass and then neck turned them.... And I did all of the vodoo associated with it. The end result is that although the brass last longer, I spent more time reloading than I did shooting.

I too have gone to reloading Remmy brass and I pitch them when the primers don't seat firmly in the primer pocket.... This occurs after about the fifth tosixth time being reloaded.

Re: 260 shooters. ?'s

I neck up 243 norma brass currently -it is so easy to do -one step and then fire form.I have found the norma brass a little soft in the primer pockets after a few fireings but have no gas escaping after 5 fireings.I will go to lapua because I know it will last and ultimatly be the best and cheapest, remington will be the most expensive when you toss them cause the primer holes turn sloppy .I have not turned my necks and with the right load get well under half inch and if on my game 1/4 -thats without neck turning -save yourself the bother unless you bench rest and want to shoot ant arse size holes

I agree with this. Remm brass. Cheap and works

Re: 260 shooters. ?'s

I neck up WW .243 with Sinclair expander mandrel and FL die. Imperial Sizing wax is essential on the insides of the necks for consistant results. No problems other than having to cull a few of the original WW pieces for various defects. No neck turning.

I've found the Remington 260 brass to be too soft.

Re: 260 shooters. ?'s

The 7mm-08 win brass is hard to find right now.

A loaded 260 round with Remington brass is .291

I run a .290 bushing on my dies.

But I finish with a Lee Factory Crimp Die.
So I run about .001 neck tension with a slight crimp
I would get a .289 if I didn't run a crimp die just so i wouldnt have a loaded bullet seperate in my gun and spill powder everywhere.

I say that and then look at Midway and they have bags of 50, 500, or 1000 now.....

Just bought 200 rounds of remington brass cause I couldn't find 7mm-08 brass.

Oh well
