How is Peterson’s brass quality? And does anyone have experience with their 280 rem brass? Looking at buying some as I’m a whore for low SD’s and ES’s as I would like to use this rifle for long range. Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

I use Peterson Brass in my .260 and my .280 AI. I do get good numbers for the most part. I say most part as I am sure if I things aren't consistent, it is my fault. It is very solid brass and takes pressure well.

How’s the powder charge compare to charges in different brass? Ie Norma or lapua, etc. Was there much adjustment to get the same node you were in previously

Sorry for the slow response, was out of town hunting. I have not noticed pressure signs using Peterson. In my .260 I used the same H4350 charge with 136L Scenars. I did get about 60 FPS with the same charge and 1/4 inch better accuracy, but that part is probably me. With my .280AI I am only using a Hi-middle of the road charge of IMR 4350 as I am still breaking things in. The .260 brass is just shy of Lapua weight wise. I think it is more consistent and handles pressure well. All of that said, I typically use Alpha brass which is really good. I have shot a few thousand rounds of that in my .260 and 6XC. great brass too. I took on the Peterson brass when I went to the .280AI, so my testing is limited; but it is high quality stuff.

    Regards, Mike

Krob95, A few weeks ago you had asked me about the performance of Peterson brass, my response was limited due to not having spent a great deal of time with it. Since that time I have spent a great deal of time, over a week with my .280AI and Peterson brass. I started with a basic load just to get the feel of the brass and pressures. When I started loading it for serious accuracy I had a devil of a time getting good numbers ES of 65 and 70 and SD's way past 20 close to 30's. That isn't going to work. I annealed it and accuracy came in a tad better, but nothing I could live with and my numbers were still high. I tried resizing the necks again, no luck.
So, I changed bullets just to see, same issues and groups were pitiful. However, the Berger's did show a bit of improvement. After about 12 hours yesterday I grabbed a handful of brass and weighed it. In just 6 pieces there was 4 grains difference in weight !! Neck thicknesses were all over the map, so I quit even trying to make sense of that. My .260 brass isn't giving me much trouble, but I only use it to hunt with. Right now anything is hard to come by for reloading purposes. I did find .280 Remington brass and picked it up, it certainly can not be any worse. I hope you have not spent the money on Peterson brass. It is too late for a return so I guess I will weight sort, turn necks and see what happens. People want to compare Peterson to Lapua and Nosler brass. I think most other brass is better that Peterson at this point.
As a side note I used 4 different powders and 4 different primers to no avail and am using a known accuracy load from 2 PRS guy's. Sorry to be so wordy, but felt I should correct my previous comments.

I appreciate it man. I’m having a hell of a time with my loads as well. Going to try and refind a different node or something because I’m having the same ES/SD problems. Thank you for the update on your experience man!

Krob, I weight sorted 150 pieces and lost over 30 due to that
I annealed them again. No luck. I went to RL26 had some luck there, but not good enough to keep shooting it.
I ordered 300 pieces of Remington brass and will FF that. It really can't get worse.

    Krob95,

Just checking to see if you have made ant headway with your Ackley in regards to high numbers. I made some improvements in the recent past (yesterday) with mine. Accuracy is yet to be fine tuned, but my numbers went down.

No sir. I stopped messing with it as I have an AI now that’ll consume all my time. Though I was going to sort all the brass by weight on my fx-120 and then change from magnum primers to CCI 200’s.

I did the same. Last week I FF 100 rounds of Remington 280. Changed powder to RL 26 and RL 23.
26 gave blistering speeds and low numbers near max. 23 was very stable with mid 2900's. sd & es are acceptable now. All with 162 eldx and berger 168.

I was looking at RL26 here this morning. I have a couple pounds in cabinet I bought when it first came out and I have never used.
