So, being a 7mm geek, I was happy to see the .284 Lapua come out. I'm a little cornfoozed though as to why the chambers are almost the same as the Winchester .284 but slightly larger. IIRC, the purpose was so you could use 6.5x284 brass and neck it up, but wouldn't it be a smaller chamber for that? You would be thinning out the brass in the neck, not thickening it. The donut created would be pushed inward when sizing. I'm wondering what the idea behind the differences were.
