Yes I'd say. 21" Kreiger 1-8, Lapua brass, 25.7gr Varget gets me in the mid 2800's. I have my rifle throated xxxtra long to seat my bullets out. Would be a very compressed load standard length.
What is your COAL? The 75gr Amax is not designed to fit into AR mags (2.260" COAL).

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ What he said
I used to have a 20" AR that I loaded up with 77gr SMK's UP TO 25.5gr of Varget for a velocity of 2770. That was the top of the pressure envelope that I was willing to push. As a matter of fact, I reduced that load to 25.0 for safety reasons. The AR I have now will only take 23.5gr of Varget (although I shoot Hornady 75gr BTHP nowadays). Much higher and I pierce primers.
Edited to add...."Hornady's manual shows a COAL of 2.390" (I dont' have a Hornady manual...that info is stolen from another forum).
I know the amax is not mag length.Ive loaded the smk 69 to mag length with 24.6 varget at 2800 fps.Im using those for Pdogs in AZ this year for faster follow ups.75amax maybe a few Pdogs but mostly range time.Want to use the 75 amax at 600 and see what they do at 1000.Heres my last post http://www.snipershide.com/forum/ubbthre...253#Post3174253

2.990". gets me 0.010" off the lands. Wouldn't do it again. Shoots good but slower than I want. Will play with RL-15 and see If I can find some more velocity.
