ok, now I know what all of the fuss is about - I finally got all my paperwork out of the way - and was able to take my 300 BO to the range. KAC 11.5 upper, LMT Mars lower w/Geiselle trigger, Rugged Surge 7.62 can and a Triji MRO- wow this is fun to shoot. No recoil and super quiet - pretty accurate at 50 yds too.

The can is pictured here in its 'long' configuration. For the BO I unscrew the end section which is about 1.5".

I also run my Surge 7.62 in the K (short) config on my 10.5" 300blk SBR with a Spikes Heavy buffer, SLR AGB and a Geissele SD3G. What a fun gun, super soft shooting. Mine is extremely accurate with 125 TMK's and H110.

I run a Leupold MR/T 1.5-5x20 CM-R2 illuminated. Love this optic. Fast and accurate close in and no problem making consistent hits on steel at 500yds

When I did research on the Surge you were one of the references I used to make the buy decision. Curious - on the Leupold MRT - why did you decide on the CM-R2 vs. the 300 BO reticle? 2nd focal plane vs.1st? How does the Surge handle supersonics?

Nice rifle; I use a lot of KAC stuff myself. What'd you do with the KAC flash hider? Wanna trade something for it? I have a QDC can and could use it if you don't.

I can tell you why I'm not fond of the dual reticle: they're cut for one barrel length and two specific bullet weights and that's it. You can work around it, but it works better at closer ranges; it works best with 16"bbl.'s and 115 supers and 220 subs. For longer ranges, differing barrel lengths and bullet weights, a plain mildot works better IMO/E.

I have an ACOG with a similar reticle and barrels from 8.2" to 16" but I honestly can't say I've tested the ACOG on the different rifles. I bought it for the 11.5, read the book and put it on the 16". I doubt the reticle would be unruly to live with, but I'd rather use it on what it works best on. I used to have a mildot on the 16" and it worked best, especially at longer ranges. The 2.5-8x MRT was about as perfect as it gets for a BLK scope with a longer barrel IMO, wish I still had it setup like that and would if I didn't have the ACOG and didn't need a scope on a nicer 5.56 rifle.

I didn't buy it for my 300bo. Had it on a 16" 5.56 for years. It just plain works in the 300bo and I dial for 500yds.

Nice to see someone else with a KAC SBR in 300BO. Don't have a suppressor (not legal in this state) and shoot mostly from 25-100 yards so I've just got an Aimpoint red dot on mine.

This is the only KAC I own and I can understand why they have the reputation they do. Beautifully put together and very soft shooting. But you don't seem to see a lot of these out in the world. I picked mine up a couple of years ago, new, for a ridiculously low price (at least for KAC).

Lots of good info here - thanks guys. I

I bought the KAC 11.5" 300 BO upper from a fellow forum member - think I paid about $1K. Also bought a very lightly used KAC SR-15 from another forum member and made some mods to see how accurate I could make it and put a NF 2.5-10 on it. I'll only be using the 300 BO with subs and at short range so a red dot is perfect - I have a JP In 6.5 Grendel and that's my real distance gas gun - amazing accuracy.

I like to keep all of the original parts in case I decide to sell so apprecaite the offer on the flash hider but it's staying put.
