I suppose that any conversations about 300 BO have been effectively hashed out and exhausted. But, I do have a couple of questions. For those of you who have decided to use the 300 BO for home defense, what barrel length are you finding to be the best? Any preference for makes of uppers? I do have a Fostech trigger system and have toyed with the idea of installing that on a 300 BO - any thoughts regarding that idea? Thanks!

Well I may not get out to 500m with my rig , but the first city block is mine! Lol
It's quick to the point shoots 1 moa to 100yds eats any ammo without tuning suppressed or not!
Had some pics of sub moa but couldn't find them, 208 amax subs is what I use.

The AAC upper, adapter and can work well for me 5 years without incedent, does shoot dirty into the reciver.
Very quiet no earpro necessary with this rig and subs.
No recoil to worry about.

YHM lower with magpul stock, 100$ trigger upgrade, AAC 10.5 inch 300 blackout upper AAC can,.
Eotec 300 blackout sight co-witnesses with magpul buis sites nicely.
What ever illumination you can afford stuck on the end.
This is an affordable rig compared to many options but has been fun and reliable.

I offer this a a reliable cost effective solution for your comparison.

Have seen some guys at the range spent more got less, and spent a lot of time tuning gas blocks, buffers etc.

I'm running an 11.5" as my patrol/entry rifle.
It is 11.5 because I cut down an existing 16" barrel (Model 1 upper, S&W lower). It has a carbine length gas system, since the barrel has been cut back and no other mods, it doesn't feed subs reliably.
I only run supers, as it is a duty weapon anyway. It is nicely balanced, maneuvers well and hits hard.
I will never do another SBR.
Why bother, when you can build a pistol with an SB Tactical PDW brace? You don't have to worry about another stamp, with a few exceptions, there is no issue with crossing state lines with a pistol.
If you plan on running suppressed all the time (a great idea), I would lean to an 8.5-9.5 barrel. Every inch or two you can shorten the overall length, the better it is for moving through rooms.
If you plan on running unsuppressed, then 10.5 is the way to go. (caution, VERY loud) and isn't a terrible choice for running suppressed either.
For home defense, out of short barrels, I think the 110 Vmax loads are pretty hard to beat. Devastating terminal performance with no overpenetration.
We carry the 110 GMX for duty, but there is a big difference between duty and home/personal defense.

Exactly like I said, if you dont want problems get an AAC upper!
AAC tuned thier ports properly to function with everything on an unmodified lower.

Weapons that dont work should be taken to an armorer or smith, maybe taken out of service and replaced.
When running subs you can still hear verbal commands. At cqb range a 208 knocks down everthing armor or not.

I don't know why you don't put weapons on your departments letterhead and save the tax stamp since it's a duty weapon?

The exact difference between a duty weapon and a home defense weapon is the direction it's pointed through the door nothin more,
eccept possibly an attitude.

At cqb range a 208 knocks down everthing armor or not.

Have you ever tested that theory? Ever shot any living animals or people? Tried any penetration tests on armor?

If you do, you'll find it doesn't perform the way you think it will. Most subsonic bullets in the Blackout, if not designed specifically for subsonic performance, have very poor terminal performance in meat (pencil through with no expansion) with far more penetration than you want, and very little or no penetration in armor.

To the OP - my bedside AR is a 9" 300 Blk. It started at 10.5", but I cut it down to make it a little more compact. That did lose some velocity with supers, but not enough to really matter for the distances it's intended for.

The 208s dont exand any at all it icepicks all the way through.
I use for headshots on 50 yard stands only just because it handles fast in a stand, culls and pigs both, dont do distance work with it.

Wasn't allowed to take pictures but with armor that was not pierced target was removed from feet, chest had spiderweb bruis covering the entire chest, and partly deflated lung, survived to rot in the pen.
Don't ask.
Leghie ? Sp, makes expanding subs but are expensive
I thought of using those in my bolt gun for 100 yd work .

Anything past 100 i dont use my black i like the quiet up close.
Lots of other guns to reach out with, noismakers.

That's a very nice price (less bcg & ch ) !
Bound to be lighter than the AAC as well.
These guys make some nice ammo for it http://beckammunition.com/ammunition/300-blackout
I just noticed thier price was (up) for the 208s ? Figures I am getting low.

Back when i bought my personal AAC 300 blk it was fresh out for civilian purchase the review hit G&A or NRA magazine.
I got one of the first release ( 2 per store ) that was available.
My gun guy was not finished unpacking the shipping box when I spied it in the back room through an open door,
Threw plastic on the counter he said he had a matching can, done!
Near riot at the counter, lol I already had an NFA account set up and the people at the counter freeked when he arrived 2 minutes later with my
typed paperwork ready for signature, only took about 6 months back then, good old days, lol

Has not failed to function since then including 200 rounds supressed at a time, does make a dirty mess in the reciver with any ammo suppressed?

I cannot atest to AACs current state of affairs, have heard ugly rumers and my 223 can has had a problem.
