Here is a board with all sorts of info on the round and the guys who build rifles etc. The whisper is a trademarked name by JD Jones so the rest of us can't use it. Most of us have built 300 fireball or the same round by any other name. The remington round was a step by them to basically legitimize the round and get it recognized by SAAMI who keep standards for civie round. We frequently call the round the 300 WTF(what the fk) as they're somewhat interchangeable. I've built a rifle in 300 fireball and there are some issues with the 700. In some rifles the bolt tends to drop the fired case before its ejected due to the type of ejector they use. Its a plunger like the AR. I modified the ejector to allow it a bit more travel which holds the fired case against the receiver for a bit longer. That allows it to be fully withdrawn before the ejector loses tension.
In any case its a neat round and worth looking into. I built a few rifles using the CZ 527 as a base and they are outstanding. The full length extractor handles the case well and the ejector system works much better than the remington. The single/set trigger is much better too.
