Pretty cool test my buddy and I conducted with his 300 Win Mag this week. We used a sawzal and hacksaw to cut the rifle from 24in down to 16in. Funny shit, damn did this rifle take a beating. The AI stock and Leupold held up to a ton of abuse. I was sitting on the rifle while he hacked away.

Yes it does and large magnums in small bores even more.
30 to 50 fps per inch up to 26" and depending on load, twist and type of rifling. So it is variable.
If one wants a 16" carbine they should seriously look into the 7.62x39 or similar case capacity. It is a lot more economical and sensible option.

Yes about 39 and he did a 308 and it was only about 18fps loss. I have to say those short rifles look bad ass. The flash on the 300 was insane.
