Central NSW, Australia.
I have been collecting peices for my next project.
Tactical .300 Wm with 26-27" barrel.

I so far have
-Stiller Tac300 action
-Manners T4A stock
-Nightforce 5.5-22x56 NSX
-Nightforece rings
-Grizzly brake
-2 Krieger barrels both .30 cal 5R one Heavy varmint and one Heavy palma.

Just want to ask you guys that have been in my shoes what barrel would you run with and what length?

Regards Sam

I really don't think it will matter that much. The barrel lengths you are thinking about will work just fine. You're missing a trigger and bottom metal in your build.

Sounds likes a nice plan. Is this going to be used primarily for stationary shoots or are you going to hump it around? You may find that 27" is alot of stick hanging out there. I started with a 24" on my .300 and replaced it with a 22".
The Commander brings up a good point about your bottom metal and trigger choices. Plenty of options out there. Since you're going with a Manners, the mini chassis is a great idea.
Best of luck with the build

SJF - I use Bartlein Barrels exclusively and love them. A couple of my buddies have also gotten excellent results with Kreigers and Shilen on their rifles. I have a .300 WM and run a 25" Barrel w a #14 M40/M24 Contour. The shank area is 1.2" and is a straight taper to .900 at the muzzle.

The weight is heavy enough to prevent barrel whip after it heats up yet light enough to carry a moderate distance or move with...I am getting a little over 3000 fps w/ my 190s and 70.4g RE 22/CCI Mag primer as well as around 2850 with 208H AMAX and 75.5 grains of H1000/CCI 250 mag primer. I also run the same scope as you

Thankyou for your replys, I missed the trigger it will be comming off my old .300 WM it a jewell. I may be considering a different trigger in the future as the trigger is not very wide and i would rather a wider trigger for more feel.
As for bottom metal there seems to be so many choices but in Australia there is very limited supply, so for now ill run with the standard bottom metal. If im to run with a DBM system i wouldn't want it to infringe on my OAL running longer bullets ie. 208 amax im currently running them at 3.660 AOL in my old gun. The new chamber should be tighter then the factory remington but untill i have it together i wont know for sure.

nn8734, I like the sound of what you have built but im very wary of going to short on the barrel. Allthough i had the same fears when building my 6.5x47 Lapua but its wearing a 25.5" barrel and seems to be running just fine.
The heavy varmint barrel i have is a little heavier then your M24 profile 1.250 over the reinforce and tapers to .900 at 28" but overall it is very close so im thinking this will be my choice.

Any tips on triggers? Rifle basix is what i was looking at.

Regards Sam.
