H1000 or IMR4350 would be better choices. But understand if he already has the RE25. I think that powder may be a little slow for his purposes.

H1000 H4350 IMR4350 R22 are better choices for the 300WM.

I tried and am using RL-25 with the 208 in my .300 WM Target rifle. I'm at 74.4 grains and am getting 2890 fps.
With all the talk of H-1000 and velocities closer to 3000, I may try it when the RL runs out.

I would definitely use a magnum primer with that slow a powder.

a friend of mine just got his 300wm and is using the 208 amax but with r22.. should he be trying r25 instead?

I'm running 72.9 r22 with same rifle (HOT) and bullet. I am at 2950. H1000 is my hunting stuff with210 vlds. My 700 p loves r22, only reason I shoot it. If he goes r22 tell him to get a bunch with same Lot # ofcourse. I recently shot a 10" group on target @ 1202 yards with my police and 208 amax. It's g1 bc is dead on. My recipe is 72.9 r22. Rp brass, wlrm, 208 amax at 3.602" coal. (25/1000") off lands. I warn you do NOT load this as start. It's so far beyond hot if SAMMI was a person his head would explode. Start low build up
