.308 Barrel Quesions....

Hey guys,

I have a GAP "Rock" .308 with a Obermeyer 20" barrel. How can I find out the twist rate? The only way I know that it is an Oby is that was what I was told by GAP when it was put together. It doesn't have any markings under it, just the GAP stamp on the side, a half moon mark and the last 4 of the serial number. Is there a way to find out for sure?

Call GAP, or run a patch down it and count how many inches it takes to turn one twist.

Didnt think of that. So, I would just mark the rod and push it down the barrel. If it makes 2 full turns, then it would be 1-10? Is that correct?

That method is correct but I am willing to bet it is a 1-11...!Btw how do you know it is a Obermeyer and not a Rock?

Just mark the rod in inches, when you are back to the start, count them.
1 turn in how many inches.

Thanks guys, and Chad it made total sense. I just wasnt thinking. I appreciate all the help. I was told by GAP that it was an Oby or that was what was used. I have had some Hart barrels and they were stamped on the side. But I have to believe what they told me.
