I have been doing a bit of research and think I may have finally chosen a bullet. The Hornady 178gr A-max, I am wanting to use this for hunting and long range target shooting with 1000yds being max right now probably. Will it do both of these things? Also could someone reccomend a good primer to use? Thanks a bunch!

I think that will work just fine. You could also try the proven combination of 175SMK over Varget. I am using BR2 primers with most of my 308 loads.
