Getting my son a Tikka T3x ctr type rifle with a 1:11 twist, 20" barrel, etc. I reload a ton but not for this caliber. Picked him up some Laupa brass and ELD bullets in 150 grain, ELD-X 173, and Sierra Tipped Match King bullets in 168. I'd appreciate powders and load suggestions for accuracy, etc. I'm partial to Varget but not sure how that would do in a .308 Win. Thanks in advance. :alien:

I ask the same question a couple days ago and didn't get much of an answer. I'm going to start at 43 grains of Varget and work up to 45 with the 178 ELDX.

Sorry to hear you didn't get a response Houston. If I find out some tips, I'll pm you.

Varget and RL15 about 42 with 175 class and about 44 with 168 class in Laupua brass. Work up to those in Lapua brass. In some of the thinner brass you might get to 45 with 175 an 46 with 168

IMR 4064, 42.3 grains, 178 ELDX, 175 Sierra MK, 175 Berger OTM.

20” barrel, 1:10 twiist

I run Lapua Palma brass... better tolerances than large rifle primer Lapua brass for 308Win.

Deer drops dead right there using ELDX.

Varget runs good in my 308 45 grains in win brass and 175 smks or 43.3 grains in lapua.might be a little hot for some rifles Friend of mine is shooting the 155 tmk with a starting load around 45 gr varget and is getting good results. Have not tried the 168 tmk.

I run IMR 4064 - 42.0 gr, 178 eldx, cci 200 in LC standard and LC Match brass. 20” Savage (soon to be 16.5”). Don’t have a chrono but it’s been sub moa for me.

Savage 1:10 twist 24" barrel
Lapua
GM210M Primer
H4895 44.8 gr Chrono 2923 f/s
Sierra 155 TMK set ATL

I just switch to 178 ELD-Ms from SMK’s. I found 2 loads with Varget, Lapua brass, and Fed210M primers. 42.9, and 43.8. 42.9 is giving me 2705 and 43.8 is giving me 2750 in a 24” Bartlein. Very forgiving bullets. 42.8-43 was a node and 43.6-43.9 wa the other.
