I have one of the FN 308 actions CDNN is selling.Looking for help on building a rifle. My questions are what type barrel to buy -- would like one short chambered but I am not sure about the extractor relief cut etc. I would like to build this gun fairly inexpensively and it will be chambered in 308. Any info would help. Cheers --

Re: 308 FN action questions

if you really want it cheap call cdnn and order one of their 308 barreled actions otherwise call a reputable smith and they will take care of you. I have had benchmark barrels build me 2 different rifles on fn spr actions and they do a fantastic job and will build you whatever your heart desires.

Re: 308 FN action questions

I have a CDNN 308 FNH PBR xp barreled action, 20" barrel. The stock is a Hogue Overmolded with a full length aluminum block, from CDNN when they still had it.

Up to 600 and it has been extremely accurate. Using reloads, loaded to M118 specs, it was going subsonic at about 800+ yards. My Tikka with a 24" barrel can make the distance without problems.

Another shooter said that his 308 Rem with a 20" barrel, which he wasn't shooting, can make the distance with a slightly higher charge.
