Re: .308 Gas gun loads with ball powder?
Based on your post, I'm not sure what bullet you will be using, but I rolled up about a bunch of capable ammo from LC brass, 40.4 of 2230 and just nearly any 168bthp made.
It's fine is either my bolt guns, or in a M1a.
I also run 844 under 147/150 class scrap bullets for more of a fooling around load, my personal load is 43.8 of 844 in a mil case under any of the 147 or 150 bullets. It fine for steel and paper to 500 in my scout gun, never thought to try it in a bolt gun, and we ran it in a DPMS 308 couple weekends ago with no problems.
I also run 846 with a 168 amax in one load for my bolt gun, I'm sure it would be fine but I'd work up to it, I went with 43.6 in a mil case. Never run it in my M1A, but I would, hell it's just an op rod, right?
I lately have used my M1a as my testbed for loads, and (somewhat reluctantly) have come to the conclusion that well built bolt guns will shoot reasonable ammo very well, so I mostly want to come up with something an iron equipped Springfield will keep in the 9 ring at 100 on a military target, and then I can be reasonably sure that a good bolt gun with glass will quarter that.
Of course I don't have those badass quarter inch bolt guns and half minute M1A's in stock, just some stuff I found laying around at pawn shops.
Have any other questions PM me, I'll call you and talk your ear off, this is all I do.
