308 Lee case length gauge cutting to 1.980"

Wow, that is short! Its almost like the gauge was mismarked. Maybe for a 300 Savage or something. How many cases did you trim. Hope it was not 500 Lapua! If they will hold the bullet, I'd probably shoot them. Just beware that carbon will build up in the case neck. Lightman
 
The cases are .035" short of the maximum SAAMI case length but plenty of factory or custom loaded ammo shows up with cases as short as 2.000". As long as you're not loading up really long rounds with very little of the bullet in the case neck, I wouldn't worry about it. Don't load them to the lands of a factory Remington barrel. The cases will only get longer after being fired a few times.
