I have loaded my 30-06 for hunting for a little while but I dont really care how accurate it is as long as I can kill a deer at 300 yrds or so.
I am now wanting to start loading for my .308 but I am wanting a accuracy load for it I am taking a stock Rem 700 Varmint in .308 and going to turn it in to a sniper rifle basically. I want to know a starting point for it and just wanted to know if anyone has done the same basic thing and if they have a good load to start with.

I am thinking ab nosler partitions and imr4895
or seiera hpbt 168 matchking
or possibly berger 175 match target BT long range

Any input would be greatly appreciated Thanks!

Varget, RL15 and IMR 4064 are my go to powders in 308W. Do a ladder test to get best results.

Remington 700 Varmint, 26" 1:12 Twist
Once Fired Federal Brass. Federal Rifle Primers. 42.5gr of IMR 4895. 175gr SMK. Seat to 2.801. If brass is long, trim to 2.010. No neck tension. 8 rd group [what I had leftover] last week was .602 CTC at 106yds, after finally clearing a 20 Dot Drill. This has the same POI at 100 and 200 yards as SW-118LR, and is .1mil higher than FGMM at 200.

Here are a couple that worked really well when I was trying to duplicate Federal GMM. Got best accuracy when seating out nearer the lands but those rounds wouldn't fit the magazine - these will.

I'm trying out Berger 185 hybrids this weekend.. Ill let you know how they turn out. The BC is like .569 and I've heard good things.

I didn't post this load because it's from a Savage 10FLP (24 inch barrel, 1 in 10 twist). But since it's almost identical to Talkinguns load (except for the match primer) and shoots great...
