.308 oal question

i just measured for my oal, and came up with 2.905 three times useing tresmon's method in the sticky for oal. my question is that going to be to much, im just trying to be safe. 2.905 is before i set it into the riflings .010.

your right it will not fit into the mag. asking because it seemed to be pretty long

Modified AICS (front plate removed), Accurate WSM magazines with feed lips adjusted, or Alpha type 2 magazines will accept an OAL of 2.980". Win 70, Badger 2008, Defiance/GAP Templar, Stiller AW or Surgeon 591 will feed 2.950, maybe 2.980" OAL with no mods. Rem 700 SA will need feed ramp notched to feed an OAL longer then 2.90" from magazine options listed above.

If you don't mind single-feeding, don't worry about it at all. I did it for a long time. When you shoot your barrel out, then have a gunsmith make you a chamber to a length that works for your magazine well. It seems most people set their OAL so they have .005 - .010 jump.
